From now until the end of this cal endar year, individuals who join GSGA via its website at www.gsga.org for 2008 will get membership benefits for the remainder of 2007 at no additional cost. GSGA membership is open to any resident of Georgia and provides, according to the release, valuable services for anyone interested in the game of golf, regardless of age or skill level. The key benefit of GSGA member ship is the USGA Handicap Index, a tool for tracking and improving one’s game. As an additional benefit of the handicap service, mem bers who join GSGA online will automatically receive their handicap revisions by e-mail every four weeks, a service called eßevisions. In addition to the updat ed Handicap Index, eßevi sions contain other valuable information such as scoring record, Index history and GSGA news. It also includes a convenient printable hand icap card to cut out and use as proof of one’s Handicap Index. GSGA members also have the option of posting their scores via the Internet. A large percentage of GSGA Member Clubs now allow this service, offering a conve nient method to make sure one’s scores get posted. Membership in GSGA also provides other benefits, including: ■ A subscription to Golf Georgia magazine, delivered to the member’s home six times a year > ■ Eligibility for some of GSGA’s 20 statewide com petitions B Special recognition for Club Champions, Most Improved Golfers, holes-in one and unique feats on the course B Access to GSGA Reward Links, a program featuring an online shopping discount program, exclusive discounts and opportunities for golf-related events, items and special ticket offers for other professional sporting events across the state. Additionally, GSGA mem bership helps support pro grams that benefit all golfers in Georgia, including course rating and measuring, schol arships for club employees and future superintendents, tournament and rules assis tance to clubs, and industry advocacy efforts to protect the game. An individual’s GSGA membership is maintained at one of more than 360 GSGA Member Clubs across the state of Georgia - two of those locally being Houston Lake Country Club and the Landings. Previously, inter ested individuals could join GSGA by signing up through a Member Club in his/her area. While that option remains available, individuals can now make application to one of over 60 Member Clubs currently participating in the online initiative. The three-step application process for joining GSGA online is streamlined, simple and secure. Log on to www. gsga.org and click the “Join GSGA Now!” button. The first step provides informa tion and instructions which should answer any initial questions. In the second step, applicants can view a map of Georgia showing the locations of participating Member Clubs, along with contact information and web site links to those clubs. After selecting a “home” club, applicants complete the third and final step - a brief application and credit card payment (VISA, Mastercard or American Express accept ed). Dues for 2008 calendar year memberships (including the remaining 2007 bonus) are $35. Once the process is com plete, applicants will receive a confirmation e-mail with information detailing when they can start posting scores and expect to receive their USGA Handicap Index. For more information or questions regarding GSGA membership, please con tact the Member Services department at 770-955-4272 or 800-949-4742 or e-mail membership@gsga.org.
