Baby Safety Month Safe Kids offers tips for you, yours Special to the Journal September is Baby Safety Month and Safe Kids of Houston County reminds parents and caregivers to plan ahead to make safe spaces for babies at home, at play and on the road. To that end, Safe Kids of Houston County has the fol lowing safety tips for new borns up to age 3: !bb fwyTTMMwrwMr Remove pillows, soft bed ding and toys from crib; put baby “back to sleep” or face up on a firm mattress. Keep cribs away from windows and furniture. Install guards on windows that can be opened, and tie up cords on curtains and blinds. Babies less than one year of age and 20 pounds or lighter must ride in a rear-facing car seat, reclined at a 45-degree angle. The employees, including main tenance and school lunch employees as well as teach ers, principals and adminis trators, had worked for the system for 25 to 40 years. They were guests of honor at a reception prior to the regular board meeting. This charity is the prima ry vehicle to raise money for the shelter.
