HOUSTON HOME JOURNAL I .. *BL JOBS j^B^Bj w 11 IML j ■ 'Ev w M Wfn s *** rr ' I■ • 'if B »»» * Bf_ - f 9 || "SJ|M T' :’ j■ '4 After big success with Saturday morning’s sale, the Downtown Perry Merchants are already planning a full schedule of events for the holiday season, and discussed a “snow day” with artificial snow, the Christmas parade and a host of other events at their meeting recently at the Front Porch Tea Room on Carroll Street. Leaving the meeting in high spirits are Tim South, Amy Davis, Nancy Jackson, Kate Lewis and Marti Tolleson. Downtown Merchants planning ahead By CHARLOTTE PERKINS Journal Staff Writer Could Perry become known as The Christmas Town? Some members of the Downtown Merchants Association would like to think so, especially by building on some popular events that are already part of “Christmas at the Crossroads.” Last Christmas, for exam ple, the annual candlelight Christmas service at the courthouse square was fol lowed by a “lamplighting” walk down Carroll Street with Perry Players actors dressed in Victorian garb. The annual Christmas parade will be held Dec. 1 at 2 p.m., and co-sponsored by Houston Springs and the Houston Home Journal. The theme will be “It’s a Wonderful Life.” They’re hoping to have carriage rides and a movie night under the stars. Plans are also getting firmed up for something spe cial for kids of all ages - a “snow day” with artificially created snow. This will take place near the Perry Fire Department on the hill that slopes down toward Ball Street. The downtown group would like to hear from any Perry churches, clubs or civic organizations planning Christmas events, so that all can be part of a Christmas calendar. The group, which held Kohl's preps for opening Special to the Journal As part of its, according to a release, “largest grand opening in company history,” Kohl’s Department Stores (NYSE: KSS) will officially open its Warner Robins store Oct. 3. One of 95 stores to open nationwide this fall, the Warner Robins store will cre ate approximately 150 jobs in the area. Located at 3050 Watson Blvd., the store is one of three opening in Georgia this October, bringing the state total to 27. The new store, accord ing to the release, is one of nearly 200 nationwide fea turing Kohl’s exciting, newly enhanced look. “An inviting exterior wel comes customers with out door seating and music,” the release reads. “Glass store front entrances with show case windows display the latest Kohl’s fashions and automatic doors allow for hands-free entry into each store. Interior amenities include an expanded Juniors’ department, spacious fitting rooms with lounge areas, updated restrooms, and rede signed customer service and checkout stations. Kohl’s began introducing new store designs with Fall 2006 Grand Openings - the transforma tions were made to integrate increased comfort and conve nience for today’s shopper.” their September meeting recently at the Front Porch Tea Room, were encour aged by the recent success of their sidewalk sale, which attracted good crowds. * ■ nn COMPUTER Jl Jl J) // J SERVICES Specializing in: ' hardware repairs/upgrades, and virus removal 4501 Russell Pkwy Suite 2 Warner Robins 478-333-6515 Friendly, hometown service at affordable prices. www.tdzcompiiters.com ■ chmg sports m HD is like having the game m your living room, w? ■ .jwimbmi \wiwir x .CMfe fffii'Xi. , -V-l \\.''ißMiWWßii. ’ ' 'f m ' v ; A \ MRiJSBm * EM f MW" ji Hr / IM We**’?
