The Northside offen
sive line veterans Jerome
Bibbins, Veshan Oats, Will

stayed on the field to fin
ish out the half and helped
backup quarterback Joe
Scott lead a late scoring
drive.
Scott completed back-to
back passes to Cooper and
Eddie Aaron for 51 yards
to the 9, and then capped
the series with a three-yard
touchdown run.
It was Trent Johnson’s
turn to kick a PAT, which
made it 42-0 with 20 sec
onds left in the half.
That was enough time for
Rich to get in the scoring
act. The Hounds fumbled
the ensuing kickoff, and
Rich scooped up the loose
ball for one more touch
down and Johnson PAT
kick.
Scott had five comple
tions for 89 yards with
Quin Green and C.J. Styles
making catches in the third
quarter.
When Jones County
had lst-and-goal from the
Eagle 6 in the third, Calvin
Johnson recorded a tack

Lockhart, on fourth down,
sacked the quarterback on

The win marked the first
sub-region win in 4-AAAA
for Northside, which is 4-

From staff reports
They say things come in
“threes.” That being the
case, Northside’s softball
team had three things to
be thankful for - early this
week, anyway, with a fourth
coming Thursday for good
measure.
For starters, the Lady
Eagles in a make-up game
Monday beat Upson-Lee 9-1.
Northside scored three runs
in the first, four in the fifth
and two in the sixth while
benefiting at the plate from
Becky Studstill’s three and
Kristen Smith’s two hits.
Sarah Purvis also pitched
five innings and had 12
strikeouts.

Perry split the regular-sea

“I was excited about our

the Trajan shortstop who
speared a line drive and got
the double play at first to

Fbst-forwarding one week,
Perry was in a much more
comfortable position going
into the seventh inning with
a 6-0 lead. Pitcher Erica
Smith had only walked two
Raider batters through six
innings, but issued a free
pass to start the seventh.
Lauren Gibbs, the No. 9
West Laurens hitter, dou
bled for her second hit of the
game and ended the shutout
at 6-1.
With the lineup back
to the leadoff spot, Olivia
Knight bunted and induced
the first Perry error of the
game. Gibbs scored, so with
no outs the visitors were
within four at 6-2.

And the third piece of good
news for Northside was the
fact the Georgia Athletic

came out Wednesday with
the Lady Eagles ranked
10th.
The fourth piece? That
came via a second win over
Upson-Lee, Thursday at

Lady Knights for the sec

thanks in part defensively
to the efforts of Langston

Sans inserted some fresh
men into the lineup, and
he was excited to see these
newcomers produce in their
first varsity softball season.
He said these are some great
players who just needed to
settle in to this new level of
competition.
First there was Kayla
Ransom, who singled up the
middle with two outs in the
home first inning to drive
in Perry’s first two runs.
Ashley Craddock, one of the
team veterans, led off with a
double to left and two more
vets, Marla Patterson and
Ashton Jones, used patience
at the plate to both draw
two-out walks.
Freshman catcher Kaitlyn
Offenberg was the next
Panther youngster to deliver
