Georgia Department of Education seeking input on classroom rule

According to a release, the
Georgia Department of Education
is seeking input on the first pub
lic draft of the state’s Minimum
Direct Classroom Expenditures
Rule.
During its 2006 session, the
Georgia State Legislature enacted
the “Classrooms First for Georgia
Perdue educator

Rhonda Wilkin Moulder,
David A. Perdue Elementary
School assistant principal
for instruction, was awarded
a SSOO scholarship recent
ly. She was presented the
Yates Scholarship in August
by the Georgia Association
of Educational Leaders at
a conference held in Jekyll
Island.
The award, according to a
release, is presented annu
ally to a GAEL member who
continues to develop leader
ship skills through enroll
ment in postsecondary lead
ership programs. Moulder
has completed coursework
for her doctorate in educa
tional leadership and is now
working on her disserta
tion. Moulder began her col
lege education with a music
scholarship to Wesleyan
College in Macon. She has
earned a master’s degree
and a specialist degree from
Mercer University in Early
Childhood Education. In
addition, Moulder has earned
an add-on in Educational
Leadership at the University
of Georgia.
After graduating from
Wesleyan, Moulder taught
music education for seven
years and then worked as an
assessment specialist with
the Regional Assessment
Center of Macon for three
years. She has been with
the Houston County School
System since 1991. Married
to Guy Moulder, the couple
has two children: Macy, age
14, and Nicholas, age 9.

and for every year thereafter, local
school systems are required to
either spend a minimum of 65
percent of their total operating
expenditures on direct classroom
expenditures, or increase their
direct classroom expenditures as
a percent of total operating expen
