David Davis holds the Georgia flag that was burned at
Advanced Drainage Systems in the Perry Industrial Park.
He removed the tattered banner and will replace it with
a new one.
By CHARLOTTE PERKINS
Journal Staff Writer
Sometime between the 6 p.m. Wednesday night and 7:30
Thursday morning, vandals showed up on the grounds of
Advanced Drainage Systems in Perry, burned a Georgia
flag, stole an American flag, and left the company flag on
the ground.
David Davis, CEO of the company, said that he found the
desecrated Georgia flag at half mast on the center flag pole,
where a large American flag had been flying. The stars and
stripes was missing.
Davis, who was visibly angered by the vandalism, said he
planned to replace the flags the same day.
The incident is under investigation by the Perry Police
Department, with no suspects identified at this point,
according to Capt. Heath Dykes. Anyone with information
about this crime should call 988-2824.

The Houston Home Journal offers a S2OO reward to anyone providing information leading to the arrest
and conviction of the person or persons responsible for burglarizing several HHJ newspaper racks
(sales must have been up). Also, about 150 youngsters walk in the Houston Lung Association’s annual
Walkathon to raise funds for the Lung Association and the Perry City Council begins advertising a public
meeting to discuss adding an ordinance that will control the location, operation and number of “adult" busi
nesses that can be in the area.

If you “heard it through the grapevine” it was probably because you visited one particular local fast-food
establishment, which was offering figurines of the California Raisins with a purchase. (Note: If you’ve just
gotta have ’em, the current starting bid on ebay is $3.98.) Also, voters reject a controversial school board
proposal on construction and renovation but then-Superintendent Matt Arthur says it’s not over yet. “We
most certainly will take these matters back to the voters,' he vows, referring to a state law that affords the
BOE the option of resubmitting proposals back to the voters provided certain stipulations are met.

Pecans are great but not if you’re trespassing on other people’s property to get them. That apparently
was the case as local law enforcement sends out a stern warning: “Get permission first, or else.”
Also, a group of students from Perry High School prepare to make an appearance on the TV show Teen
Challenge and Perry Councilman Ralph Gentry remained hospitalized after going into respiratory arrest.
Doctors were running tests to try and determine the reason(s).
