Bridget Zimmerman of the Robins AFB Health and
Sacred Heart to hold Fall Festival
Special to the Journal
Sacred Heart School will
host its 41st Annual Fall
Festival Oct. 27. The festi
val, according to a release,
has always been used to pay
for the low tuition offered
to military and low income
families.
This year there will be
free concerts from Nashville
Star Finalists Melanie
Torres and Dustin Wilkes,
local band Skeetersz, High
Cotton (Atlanta folk band),
David Bowers, Jr. and a free
magic show by Mike Fuller,
the magician. Radio Disney
will be there live and will be
holding contests and giving
out prizes all day long. 102.5
The Bull and 895.1 will also
be broadcasting live.
For children 5 and over, a
$lO armband gets them all
day admission to many rides -
such as Bungee Trampolines,
Airborne Parachute,
Twisting Teacups, Rock Wall,
Velcro Wall, Mechanical Bull,
Pedestal Joust, Jacob’s lad
der and many more rides.
See how fast you can kick a
soccer ball or throw a base
ball!
For smaller children, a $5
armband gets them on any
of the above-rides, plus some
special rides for toddlers -
such as a train, Dino slide,
and more. Pony rides will
also be offered for $3.
There will be a paintball
challenge where you can win
a paintball gun. There will
be free trick or treat with
the sponsors - candy for kids/
goodies for adults. College
football will be broadcast all
day.
Also, lock up a friend in
“jail” and make them solic
it or pay $1 “bail” - with
all proceeds going to the
ADVANCE (formerly DARE
program). ADVANCE offi
cers will also be at festival.
ADVANCE, according to the
release, needs the funds as it
no longer gets state funding.
“Don’t worry about miss
ing your favorite game,” the
release reads. “We will be
broadcasting college football
all day long on two large
screens.” Mary Therese will
be emceeing and accepting
holiday greeting and letters
for the troops - which she
will carry overseas for two
weeks in November.
To round out Fire Safety
Month, the Houston County
Fire Department will have
trucks and demonstrations
for the kids. The festival
also has more than 50 arts
and crafts vendors slated,
a very large rummage sale
known as Granny’s Attic,
Bingo, Cake Walk, and lots
of Carnival games. There is
a silent auction where you
