Skala, son of Frances H. and Charles J. Skala of Warner Robins, recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N. J. During the eight-week training program, Skala completed a vigorous train ing curriculum consisting of academics and practical instruction on water safety and survival, military cus toms and courtesies, sea manship skills, first aid, fire fighting and marksman ship. A major emphasis is also placed on physical fit ness, health and wellness. Skala and other recruits also received instruction on the Coast Guard’s core values - honor, respect and devo tion to duty - and how to apply them in performance and personal conduct.
