It’s time to plant
pansies, violas
It’s that time of year for pan
sies and violas! These fall/win
ter/spring beauties are durable,
undemanding, and colorful. (Not to
mention that they are about the only
real choices we have as we seek to fight
the drabness of the winter landscape).
For those of you who may not be
familiar with violas (since pansies have
been the more popular of the two), they
offer smaller flowers than pansies. But,
the smaller the flower, the more flowers
there will be!

Christmas this year that I have already
bought and wrapped presents. Forget
that Halloween is next week. I’ll just
skip it.

Margaret and Archie
Okay, this one gave some people fits,
so high grades go to all those who got
within one of having the whole thing.
Basically, there was an Archie list, with
included archy and mehitabel, Archie and
Edith Bunker, Archie Goodwin and Nero
Wolf, and Archie and Veronica (from the
comic books). There was also a Margaret
list, including Margaret who forsook the
Forsaken Merman; Princess Margaret
and her husband Anthony Armstrong-
Jones, First Lady Margaret Taylor and
husband Zachary. Making A+ were Jaioo
Zelonis, Terry Everett, Olivia Stachorek,
Sharon Cyr and Nancy Braswell.
A town named Chicken
Chicken, Alaska, got its name because
its residents couldn't agree on how to
spell Ptarmigan, which is the state bird.
Getting it right were Terry Everett, Bill
Harrison, Laurie Jones, Nancy Braswell
Jaloo Zelonis and Sharon Cyr.
