Unemployment rate unchanged in September

The Georgia Department
of Labor reported this week
that the unemployment rate
in the metro Macon area -
which encompasses Houston
County - was unchanged at
5.0 percent from August to
September.
Meanwhile, the state’s
unemployment rate rose to
4.6 percent in September, up
one-tenth of one percent from
4.5 percent in August. The
state’s rate was one-tenth of

percent in September.
The state’s rate rose in
September because 6,048
more jobless residents were
added to the unemployment
rolls, while 23,182 more job
seekers entered the work
force. From August to
September, preliminary data
show Georgia lost 800 pay
roll jobs. However, in metro
Macon, the number of jobs
was up 200, from 101,300 to
101,500.

Lois 6. Hatton
CENTERVILLE - Lois G. Hatton,
89, passed away Monday. Funeral
services were held Thursday in
the chapel of Heritage Memorial
Funeral Home with burial following
in Magnolia Park Cemetery. She
was a child of the late Horace and
Mattie Wilkerson Green. Survivors
include three children, two sib
lings, eight grandchildren and 11
great grandchildren.
Police hunt robbery suspect

Officers with the Warner
Robins Police Department
responded to the BB&T
Bank, which is located at
3001 Watson Blvd., Thursday
in reference to an armed
robbery. According to a
police reports, a female was
robbed at knifepoint by an
unknown black male as she
was making a bank deposit.
The black male is described
as 5-foot-9 in height, slender
built and dressed in all black
clothing. No one was injured
during the incident. Anyone

God saw the road had gotten rough. The hills hard
to climb. So he decided to take our Lucious and
Odessa away without telling us goodbye. We know
that Lil jack, John Aaron, Lester, Sonnyboy and
Smokey are together with you all. One day the other
13 children will meet also. We will be as one big
family having a good time.

MACON - Margaret S. Douglas,
68, passed away Tuesday. Her
husband, father and brother all
preceded her in death. Survivors
include two daughters, a son,
nine; grandchildren, one great
granddaughter, her mother, one
brother and three sisters. Services
were held Friday with interment
in Magnolia Park Cemetery
