Be careful how you respond.
You’re trying to build trust

disappointment is natural
and necessary; but it’s also
important to thank your
child for his or her honesty
and then move on. Let them
know you love them no mat

your expectations and model
a forward-looking mindset.
One more piece of advice
- delay dating. Steady rela

more intense emotions and
exclusive commitments,
which are more likely to lead
to sexual activity. Moreover,
the cycle of teen dating can

QUESTION: At what age
ing technology-driven world.
Why goodness, most can’t
even turn on a computer.
But what they know is
greater than any microchip
can ever store. They know
life from a raw, practical
advantage point. No scientist
can invent anything better.
They knew the South
when Franklin Roosevelt, a
Southern convert who died
on Georgia soil, sought to
long commitment.
Our sexuality is a wonder
ful aspect of our humanity.
In its proper context, sexual
intimacy brings profound
joy and relational depth.
But sexual intimacy’s power
to bring about good things
is counterbalanced by its
power to bring about pain
and regret when engaged in
outside of marriage. It’s up
to us parents - even if we
ourselves have failed at some
point - to communicate this
reality to our children.
