My dad had been trying to catch a beaver that was destroying his ponds. If you’re from the country you know that beavers will wreak havoc on a pond. He had finally “extermi nated” the beaver and brought him to the house for the boys to see. They were fascinated with ing with the boys, but they can make the holidays really memo rable. One Thanksgiving I will always remember was when Tal, Hunter, Ben, and Luke were four years old. The boys were taking turns riding a pedal driven plastic trac tor with a wagon attached to the back. They thought it was great fun to put the beaver in the wagon and pull it around in circles until the beaver slung off. When that happened they would pick up the beaver and place him back into the wagon. The beaver was almost as big as they were so it was quite comi cal to see them lug this beaver around and then put it back in the wagon for another round. This went on for a long time while the two poor soldiers were wait ing for help. AAA had not shown up yet so my dad offered to help them fix their car and they very eagerly accepted. This holiday shopping extravaganza will feature a variety of unique, fun and festive items from over 70 shoppes and vendors from throughout Georgia and the Southeast. Highlighting the event will be holiday pre sentations, entertainment and Children’s Pictures with Santa on Sunday afternoon by Gilbert Photography. Admission is $4 in advance and $5 at the door. Bill says Notre Dame had defeated the US Naval Academy in football for a record 43 straight sea sons, beginning in 1964, for the longest series winning streak in NCAA Division 1-A. That record came to an end last Saturday when the Midshipmen sank the Irish 46-44 in overtime. Part Two-During WW 11, the US Navy made Notre Dame a training center and paid enough for usage of the facilities to keep the university afloat financially. I can only imagine what they thought about my “little family”. Another exciting holiday was Easter a few years ago. We were hunting Easter eggs at my in laws’ house. Like my parents, they also have ponds on their property which are home to many alligators. The boys had been try ing to catch an alligator and that day they just happened to get one. We had just finished our annual egg hunt when they brought the alligator to the house. Unless an Egyptologist wants to speak up, I’m counting all three answers as correct. He looked just like he was wearing a little party hat. He was such a cute sight that his picture was published in a local magazine. After the egg hunt, they released him back into the pond where I presume he still lives today. hope you have a very exciting Thanksgiving, but I can’t imagine that your holidays can be as excit ing as ours.
