Man with local family ties enlists in National Guard

Brent Aaron Springer
has enlisted in the North
Carolina Army National
Guard, a reserve component
of the U.S. Army, with a com
mitment to serve the local
community, the state, and
the nation.
Under the Recruit
Sustainment Program,
enlistees join and train with
pay while preparing to attend
and complete basic military
training. The recruit attends
weekend drill training until
shipping out to attend basic
training. After completing
basic training, the guard
member will attend advanced
individual training to obtain
a military occupational spe
cialty.
The citizen-soldier will
be assigned Detachment 1,
Company B, 638th Support
Battalion based in Salisbury,
N.C., after he completes
basic military training and
Aircraft Powerplant Repairer
Advanced Individual
Training. The recruit enlist
ed in the National Guard in
September with the rank of
private first class, and will
depart in February 2008 to
complete basic military train
ing and advanced individual
training.
Springer is the son of Steve
V and Debbie K. Springer of
Stone Road, Salisbury.

PUBLIC NOTICE
According to the Georgia Municipal Election
Code 21-2-379.6 (c) notice is hereby given that the
logic and accuracy testing on the voting equipment
to be used in the December 4, 2007 run-off Election
will begin at 9:30 a.m. on November 16, 2007 and
continue until completed. The testing will be at the
Houston County Board of Elections Office located in
the Houston County Government Building, 801 Main
St. Perry, Georgia.
This testing is open to the public.

Lord on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007.
Funeral Services will be held
at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17,
2007, at Christ’s Sanctified Holy
Church on the Campground, with
interment following in the church

Born in Birmingham, Ala., Mr.
Rodgers was the son of the
late Willie E. Rodgers, Sr. and
Emma (Lewis) Rodgers. He had
resided in Perry for the last four
and a half years moving from
Atlanta.
Mr. Rodgers was a faithful,
lifelong member in good stand
ing of Christ’s Sanctified Holy
Church, and was on the church
council for 30 years. He had a
tape ministry for 18 years for
people who were home bound.
Mr. Rodgers was a home builder
for 55 years.
He was pre-deceased by his
loving wife Dora (Chandler)
Rodgers. Survivors include
daughter, Pamela J. Rodgers of
Perry, sons, Willie E. Rodgers,
111 (Ed) of Conyers, Michael L.
Rodgers of Hanahan, SC and
Richard G. Rodgers of Social
Circle; four siblings, 11 grand
children and 16 great grandchil
dren.

Friday. His parents, Cecil and
Margaret Aufderheide and sister,
Donna Ashe preceded him in
death. Survivors include his son,
Chance Wayne Aufderheide,
Jacksonville, Florida and sister,
Joann Dailey (Larry), Fort Valley.
Services were held Tuesday at
Magnolia Park Cemetery.

Maude Carter, 87, passed away
Saturday. She was predeceased
by her parents, her first husband,
her second husband and her
son. Survivors include four chil
dren, 18 grandchildren, many,
many great grandchildren and
great-great grandchildren, and
many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Tuesday.
Burial will be private.

Ray Johnstone, age 76, of
Lawrenceville died Nov.
10, 2007 after a short illness.
Mr. Johnstone spent over 20
years as a loyal
and valued employee of
