Westfield's One Act Play cast crew earns several awards Special to the Journal Westfield’s One Act Play cast and crew traveled to Georgia Southwestern College-yeceWJy r where they competed in GISA Region competition. To that end, Westfield’s performance of the come dy “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” received the highest award possible - a Superior rating. In fact, according to a release from the school, two out of five best performance awards went to Westfield actors: Katie Beth Stubbs as the Enchantress and Beau Lunceford, who played a multitude of characters. Both received Outstanding Performance Awards. At the GISA State One Act Festival at Darton College in Albany, Westfield continued its winning ways. Lunceford won another Outstanding Performance Award and Westfield gar nered another Superior HCHS places third at region competition Special to the Journal Houston County High School placed third in the region for its one-act performance of “The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet.” According to a release, three members of the cast were selected as members of the All-Star Cast. They were: Heather Center, Danielle Daoust and Jessica Gannarelli. “We were delighted that one of our three Taekwondo assembly In recognition of Red Ribbon Week recently, the students of Hilltop Elementary partici pated in a school wide Taekwondo assem bly. Doug Rankin, of Taekwondo Plus in Warner Robins (pic tured), spoke to the students about the importance of discipline and being drug free. The students practiced Taekwondo moves and | kicks. HCBOE begins search for next Teacher Hall of Fame Inductees Special to the Journal The Houston County Board of Education, according to a release from the organi zation, is seeking nominees for the 2008 Houston County Teacher Hall of Fame. This program, according to the release, honors “extraordi nary teachers who made a significant difference in the lives of their students.” Nominations for the Hall of Fame must be received by Feb. 29,2008, to be considered for the second annual induc tion. Those making nomina tions must complete an offi cial form to be accompanied by letters of recommendation and a portrait-style photo graph of the nominee. A committee of former Houston County educators and school system gradu ates are working to obtain HC School System debuts e-newsletter: HCBOE Headlines Special to the Journal The Houston County School System, according to a release, debuted its e-news letter, HCBOE Headlines, Thursday.HCßOE Headlines, according to the release, is a monthly e-newsletter that will help keep parents and the community informed about events, awards and activities of the Houston County School System.
