“You have to keep your
team together as a setter,”
said Hollars. “You’re the one
calling the plays. You have
to get along with everybody.
“I’ve become more of a
leader, being able to talk to
the girls. The whole team is
like a family.”
At Belmont Abbey, Hollars
is hoping to work hard and
earn enough playing time as
a freshman to get better and
perhaps earn “Freshman of
the Year” honors.

In the swimming pool,
Morgan specializes in dis
tance races and the back
stroke. He feels he could
do any event in which he is
asked to swim.
“Joey is a superior swim
mer who is highly motivated
to achieve,” said Houston
County swim coach Jamey
Richardson. “Joey’s times in
the 200 and 500 freestyle
are currently good enough
to qualify for the state meet,
where he has been a finalist.
We expect him to lead us to
our best year this winter.
Morgan, who consid
ered swimming offers from
Florida, South Carolina and
North Carolina-Wilmington,
trains with Swim Macon
and is coached there by
Lee Stockslager and Justin
Correia. It was as a mem
ber of Swim Macon this past
summer where he feels he
made his greatest swimming
achievement.
It was at the Georgia State
Championships where he
earned first alternate for
the Georgia Zone team that
went to Houston, Texas, for a
meet against swimmers from
several southern states from
Texas to West Virginia. In

The low 48 teams based
on combined handicap index
comprised the Championship
Flight. The remainder of
the field was determined
by lottery and flighted by

the competitors in the
