KUDOS From /targe l 4 On our first night, First United Methodist of Americus fed us. We slept in the First Baptist Church of Americus. At First Baptist Church of Americus, the Pastor, Robert L. Whitmire, came by and checked room by room - Are you okay? First Baptist of Perry made us breakfast, lunch, and supper - every day. This group was lead by Riley Hunt and Chef Charlie led food preparation. As to the work, Jody Wade of UMCOR orches trated groups from different places and managed multiple projects in different stages. If the Ed Sullivan show made a come back, Jody could perform as a juggler. It was clear to me that while we were on a “mission trip”, the people of Houston County were on a mission - many months had past since March 2007 and daily, they were still getting up and going to bat. I’m retired from the military and industry. I know that somebody pays for everything. The members of the local Churches paid for utilities and our food. People all over the country donated to UMCOR.
