The tree branches were a feathery shredded aluminum branch (wrapped in paper sleeves which you would remove) and were inserted into a silver painted trunk. Several companies made the aluminum Christmas tree including, Evergleam, Sparkler, Silver Forest and many others. People would hang aluminum ornaments on the trees to also reflect color and light. Electric lights were not used on these trees. Folks were afraid if the lights shorted out that the metal tree would shock you! The most important part of the tree was the magic color wheel. The housing on the color wheel was usu ally bullet shaped or a white metallic flake cone shape and contained a super big light bulb up to 1500 watts! You would set the color wheel under or behind the tree depending on what style of color wheel it was. Some color wheels were part of the stand and would revolve the tree and/or play music. The color wheel was usu ally divided into 4 colors; red, blue yellow and green. Different models would have more or less colors but the effects were the same. The motor would turn the color wheel thus reflecting the col ors off of that shiny alumi the ones grandma used to have or use or things or toys that you remem ber from your child hood bring back wonder- Call today to schedule your free consultatflH 478.405.2020 *** 125 Plantation Centre Prive, Suite 250 Macon, Georgia 31210 www.PrCtjner.cow Noon Optimists have new leader Past President Toni Ballinger, left, presents Warner Robins Noon Optimist Club gavel to Rodney Wilson who has been elected to serve as the new club president for 2007/2008. COMMUNITY num tree! Ooooh, Aaaaah! Some of the color wheels color sections were made of a type of cellophane and the heat from the lamp would cause the wheel to turn. If for some reason the color wheels stopped turning, that hot lamp would melt the color panel! This was true of the hard plastic color wheels as well. You are in luck if you have one of these beauties! They are very popular again and sell for between $45-S2OO on Ebay depending on size and condition! The color wheels bring S4O-$75 depending on style and condition. Having the original boxes also adds to the value. Everything old is new again! It always amazes me what things come in and out of style again. Look for those old aluminum trees in your attic or garage, they can be hidden treasures! Happy Collecting!
