The kids were required to obtain a certain number of points by read ing books and taking tests on them. After they reached the number of points required by their teachers they then got to come to the Media Center and receive their gifts. WRPD detective guest speaker at Westfield Special to the Journal Detective Karen Stokes of the Warner Robins Police Department recently spoke to Westfield’s Middle School and Upper School students in a special assembly program focusing on gang awareness. Stokes, according to a release, gave an informative update on gang activity in Reading Counts Party Houston County and the prevention and apprehension measures that the Gang Intelligence Unit is undertaking. Stokes served as vice president of the Georgia Gang Investigators Association for two years and has written intelligence brief ings on Gangs for the U.S. Department of Justice. MaU-' y &gjl" ' Contributed Westfield School students in Mrs. Arnett’s third grade Spanish class had a con test for the best “luchador” drawing, which means “wrestler”.
