She immediately spotted our gray cat. That’s all it took. She told me the story as to why “gray”. Sharon’s Mother, Winnie Sordian, loves cats. She recently lost her gray cat “Smokey” to feline leukemia. Sharon filled out the adoption paper work but could not take him home but would pick him up on Wednesday. Well, that baby did not go back to the shelter to wait for his new Mom to come and get him, he came home with me. Rather than meet Sharon some where to hand over the cat, I asked if I could join her in her surprise for her Mother. I did and what a moment! Ms. Sordian lives at the Antebellum Grove in Warner Robins. Sharon opened the door to her Mother’s room. Ms. Sordian looked at Sharon, looked at me and then the cat carrier. Her eyes spoke for the moment. Sharon took the cat out of the carrier and handed him to her Mother. Ms. Sordian looked at Sharon and said “Smokey”. 1 didn’t stay too long, this was a special time for Sharon and her Mother. But while I was there, I did find out Ms. Sordian is originally from Germany. She still has her beautiful accent. She lived in Charleston for 30 years. She moved to Warner Robins about a month ago. Welcome to Georgia Ms. Sordian. Thank you, Sharon, for sharing your surprise. It is days like this that makes what I do worth it. Not all “Pet Gifting” goes this well. I spoke with a man this week that was looking for a home for his 7 month old Labrador. The puppy was a gift that was a misunderstand ing. So please use caution if you are considering giving a kit ten or puppy as a gift. Cold weather is approaching. The Perry Animal Shelter can use your old blankets, bed spreads, sheets and towels to put down on the concrete floors to keep our dogs warm at night. What I don’t see is the end results. I don’t see the family and their new member interact or it’s new environ ment. Sometimes the not knowing leaves me wondering, especially for those kittens I have fostered. On the day before Thanksgiving I got the opportunity to see the end results of an adoption. Sharon Wynne came to the Warner Robins Petsmart to buy puppy food. She stopped by to look at what cats groups, 22% from retail lots, and 35% from choose and cut farms. * In 2001, about 35 million Christmas trees were har vested in the United States.
