Justin Burkholder was one of the Bears’ qualifiers. He finished first in the 100 Fly - with a time of 59.66. That wasn’t a state qualifier but his time of 1:06.90 and second place finish in the 100 Breast was. Josh Morgan also qualified for state with a time of 1:54:05 in the 200 Free. He was second in that event. In the 100 Free, he was third - no state qualifier - with a time of 52.49. Joey Morgan also swam to first - and a state qualifier - in the 100 Back. He had a time of 58.44. He also qualified for state in the 500 Free with a -time of 4:58.73. He finished second in that event. Mark Weber qualified for state in the 100 Free. He swam it in 50.58 while finishing second. He also qualified for state in the 50 Free. He swam it in 22.85 while also fin- with her second-place finish n the 200 Free and fourth in the 500 Free, while Olivia Aungst had 3 points. Also, the girls 200-yard Medley Relay and the 200 Free relays placed second for a total of 28 points. Members were Smith, Daly, Holly Odom, Culpepper and Wharton. Aaron Meece did post a qualify ing effort. He swam to third in the 500 Free but with a time of 5:18.11. Finally in the individual events, Nathan Meece finished third in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:08.77. In the relay events, Joey Morgan, Nathan Meece, Burkholder and Weber combined to finish second in the 200 Medley. Their time of 1:46 was a state qualifier. Houston County’s second 200 Medley team of Josh Morgan, Niemantsverdriet, Aaron Meece and Drew Bratcher teamed up to finish third. Their time was 1:52.52, which was not a state qualifier. Nathan Meece and Aaron Meece, 50 Free, the team was in third place. They made the relays count and scored in four out of six relays in order to pass by Bainbridge for the second place trophy.” The Demons (8-6) did not rank as high in the standings with a seventh-place finish. They were behind first place Americus Sumter High and host Lee County High. They did beat out Perry, Westside and Lamar County, Hawkins added. For them, team Capt.
