transition hoops and led 14-10.
Westfield tried to push the basket
ball on Central Fellowship and not get
caught in the 2-3 halfcourt zone. John
Peake finished off one of those breaks
scoring on the baseline, and Amrit
was able to score inside the zone on a
Rust assist. The Lancers, though, had
enough takeaways and counters to a
late Sims 3-pointer to own the 27-24
halftime edge.
The Hornets were without freshman
forward James Wurster (foot).
• The Westfield boys defeated GISA
AA foe Windsor Academy Friday in
Macon 77-38 behind four 3-point bas
kets for Sims, who had a team-high 14
poirfts. Keenan Malone scored 13 and
Amrit had 12 points with eight blocks.

In 94 seconds, Perry went
on a 10-0 run sparked by
Shay Newberry’s six points.
The Lady Panthers pulled
to within 10, 56-46, but
Houston County’s defense

less during the final three
minutes of the game.

Baxley said.

Central Fellowship junior Mandy
Spencer, according to Westfield girls
basketball coach Jeff Eubanks, could
be the best player in the GISA AAA
girls division. Spencer had 27 points
and was screening, passing to open
teammates and defending anything in
her way Saturday as the Lady Lancers
won the non-region clash with the
Lady Hornets.
“It’s hard to get steals against a good
offensive team,” said Eubanks, whose
own team had 17 turnovers in the first
half and was down 35-12 at the break.
Even a mass substitution two min
utes into the game didn’t slow down
the Lady Lancers in building a 10-2
advantage. Mallory Eubanks drove in
a second shot opportunity and Mason
Moreland hit a 3-pointer, but the visi-
remained winless at 5-0.
Also in double figures
for Houston County were
Kourtney Thomas with 13
points and Alexis Hewitt at

Perry’s Brianna Brown

Burgess also ended the
game with a triple, double,

period at 20-10.
The score stayed the same for a
long stretch of the second, and the
turnovers were even, but the game got
away from Westfield with some rushed
outside shots and consecutive baskets
for Central Fellowship off the press.
The Lady Lancer shooting never
cooled off in the second half, and the
third quarter ended at 51-22. Haley
Way had a 3-pointer in the fourth
quarter, which the Lady Hornets won
25-18.
Moreland finished with 14 points

• Moreland had a double-double
Friday at Windsor Academy in Macon.

points as the Lady Hornets led this
