The Warner Robins Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a Ribbon Cutting ceremony
Tuesday for Church’s Chicken, located at 520 General Courtney Hodges Blvd in Perry.
Church’s Chicken was founded in 1952 by George W. Church, Sr. in San Antonio,
Texas. Church, according to a release, recognized the opportunity fora Quick Service
Restaurant featuring freshly cooked, quality fried chicken at value prices. Best known
for fried chicken, Church’s also serves fried okra, Cole slaw, massed potatoes, jalape
ho peppers, French fries, com on the cob and their signature Honey Butter Biscuits®.
The franchise in Perry is owned by Westbrook, Patel Investments LLC of Perry. Jay
Westbrook is President and Sunil Patel is Vice President.

Mid South Federal Credit Union joined forces with business leaders from around the
state Nov. 2 and participated in the Cox Communications Charity Clay Fun Shoot.
The event was held at The Meadows National Gun Club in Forsyth. Proceeds from
the Clay Fun Shoot will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia. Pictured

magazine’s Best Plants in
North America 2007 com
petition. The Blue Bird
Corporation plant was
selected from manufactur
ing facilities across North
America in recognition
for, according to a release,
“dedication to continuous
improvement and outstand
ing performance in safety,
quality and productivity.”
The La Fayette-based
plant has been in operation
since 1982 and presently
manufactures the Blue Bird
Vision® model school bus
body.
In addition to Blue Bird’s
North Georgia facility, other
top 10 finalists include:

PERRY - Edgar M. Polk, age
94, passed away on Wednesday,
December 19,2007, at Peachbelt
Rehabilitation Nursing Home in
Warner Robins. Services are pri
vate.
Mr. Polk was born to the late

Green, Florida. A World War
II veteran of the US Army, he
served for over 22 years as a lab
technician and a medical techni
cian, and taught for the Army
in Panama, training other lab
technicians.
He received an Army
Commendation Medal for
Meritorious Service. After he
retired from the Army, he worked
as a lab technician for the late
Dr. poley in Sebring, Florida
for many years. He eventually
moved to Houston County from
Frost Proof, Florida in 2004. An
avid fisherman and farmer, he
was a Methodist.
Survivors include his daughter
and son-in-law, Ursula and Cliff
Beakes, of Perry; a grandson,
Jake Beakes, of Perry; and two
brothers, Calvin Polk, of Frost
Proof, Florida, and Gilbert Polk,
of Bowling Green, Florida.
He was preceded in death
by his wife, Ethel Polk; sisters,
Hazel Ballau and Marie Veal;
and brothers, Hubert Polk, Cecil
Polk, and Floyd Polk.

pleted U.S. Navy basic train
ing and was meritoriously
promoted to his current
rank at Recruit Training
Command, Great Lakes, 111.
During the eight-week
program, Beale completed
a variety of training which
included classroom study
and practical instruction on

WARNER ROBINS - Infant
Jonathan Paul Banks passed
away on Tuesday. He was born
Nov. 7 in Warner Robins. He
is survived by his parents and
three sisters; paternal grandpar
ents, maternal grandparents, an
aunt and two uncles. Services
were held Friday in the chapel of
McCullough Funeral Home with
interment following in Greenwood
Cemetery, Atlanta.
Bill Cowan
WARNER ROBINS - Bill
Cowan, 87, passed away
Tuesday. His parents preceded
him in death. Survivors include
his wife, Rosemary Cowan,
Warner Robins, three sisters
and several nieces and neph
ews. A memorial service was
held Friday at Mount Calvary
Lutheran Church with inter
ment following in Andersonville
National Cemetery.
Wanise Foskey
WARNER ROBINS - Wanise
Foskey, 71, passed away Dec.
13.
Her husband, parents and
seven siblings preceded her in
death.
Survivors include her two chil-
naval customs, survival and
much more. The capstone
event of boot camp is “Battle
Stations”. This exercise gives
recruits the skills and confi
dence they need to succeed in
the fleet. It is also designed
to galvanize the basic warrior
attributes of sacrifice, dedica
tion, teamwork and endur
ance in each recruit through
the practical application of
basic Navy skills.
Beale is a 2007 graduate of
Nice ville Senior High School
of Niceville, Fla.

Elsie Pearl Hiott, preceded him in

Thursday in the Christ United
Methodist Church.

him in death. Survivors include his
