Celebrating with five boys in the house can range from great fun to down right disastrous. We always travel to South Georgia to spend Christmas with family. Santa visits the boys at their grandparents’ houses, so he has quite a job making sure that every one receives what they ask for not only at the right time, but also at the right location. When the boys were small, Santa’s job was quite easy, but as the boys have grown it gets more difficult with time. They are no longer content with train sets and building blocks, but would rather have golf clubs, dirt bikes, iPods, and other large gifts that break Santa’s bank. This year the favorite toys were “shock ing tanks”. Yes, they are exactly what they sound like. The game includes two remote controlled army type tanks. The object is An annual tradition of Christmas giving Warner Robins Noon Optimist Club President Rodney Wilson presented Capt. Glenn Queerer of The Salvation Army with more than S3OO at a dub meet ing on December 13th. The contribution is an annual tradition of the club when The Salvation Army is the program speaker at a club meeting in December. The contribution comes from individual club members who contribute to a pot that is passed around at that meeting. Queener said they will use the fuhds to be placed in another 'pot' - the Christmas bell ringing kettles. "Optimists-Bringing Out the Best in Kids". Christmas Eve, several years ago, was spent in the emergency room with Tal because Luke pushed him into the bumper of his granddaddy’s truck while they were fighting over a toy, caus ing a busted forehead, and requiring seven stitches right between the eyes. This year, Luke caused the situation closest to a mis hap while driving a 4-wheeler. Christmas morning, he wanted to see what his cousin had received from Santa so he asked if he could drive the 4-wheeler over to his house. His granddaddy reluctantly gave him the keys and told him to be careful. Yeah, right. As he was passing the chicken coop, he somehow snagged the water hose with the 4-wheeler and yanked it from the spigot. Water was spraying several feet up into the air. He actually came into the house and asked what he should do. Hello! Turning the water off would seem like the first logi grandniece. Roosevelt Sea, great grandnephew, read Mr.Billins’ biography. But, you know boys. They are very seldom logical. My husband started a holiday tradition with the boys when they were small. He began taking them to the “dollar store” to pick out gifts for their grandparents. He let them pick out anything that they thought their grandparents would like. Over the years, their grandparents have received everything from mouthwash, which the boys called washmouth, to shampoo that controls dandruff. But, like all grandpar ents, they ldved their gifts and used them proudly. Arid for awhile did not have to. worry about bad breath or white flakes on their coat collars.
