Then Jim, despite his
emphysema, tried to get
back into the house to res
cue Cuddles, his 14-year-old
totally blind dog.
“I tried to go in holding a
garden hose,” he said, “but
the ceiling started falling in.
Then I went around to the
back and called and Cuddles
came out.”
He has other dogs, too, and
horses, and some chickens.
He knows that the horses
and chickens are okay, but
the other dogs - Pit Bulls,
haven’t shown up, and he’s
afraid that they took cover
under the house.
It went fast, with the oxy
gen tanks exploding.
Jim says that he lost all
his guns, but miraculous
ly, the ammunition didn’t
explode.
They lost everything but
their beloved dog and the
clothes on their ba’ck. Mary’s
kitchen is gone. There are
no sheets for the beds, and
no beds either. All they have
accumulated in a lifetime

The cold air in Georgia has
pushed Flint Energies to a
new all-time peak demand,
according to Chief Operating
Officer Ty Diamond.
“We peaked at approxi
mately 472 megawatts this
morning (Friday) accord
ing to information from
Georgia System Operations
Corporation (www.gasoc.
com) which operates the
statewide electric system for
39 electric cooperatives.
“This is an all time high,”
said Diamond. “The high
est demand before this cold
snap was 409 MW.” Flint’s
system is monitored in local
offices 24 hours a day, 365
days a year to ensure reliable
electric service, according to
Diamond.
