During that time, Perry was part of an 18-team sub-region. And, the sub-region was broken down into four groups. As the tournament begins, it is also reportedly taking place in four different locations, and with some confusing termi nology. Consider this from the Houston Home Journal story: “To stay in the tournament, you must win on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. A loss on any one of these nights will knock you out of being one of the two finalists. But, you can lose Tuesday and Thursday night and still be in the finals. If you lose on Friday night you must play again Tuesday. If you win Friday night but lose Wednesday ...” Well, you get the picture. 30 years ago: A fund is set up a for 14-month old child who was severely burned after pulling a pot of boiling hot water on top of himself from the stovetop. The problems reportedly stem over the previous owner of the property and the contractor for the project, both reportedly run ning into “financial difficulties". - Compiled by Don Moncrief Birthdays Jan. 24 ■ Rick Ganus Jan. 26 ■ Randy Rape Jan. 27 ■ Garnet Burgin ■ Sidney Stewart p Kenneth Rich H Buena Harrison (Happy 91st!) ■ Tishua Powell ■ Denise Burdeshaw Jan. 28 ■ Richard Bostic Jan. 29 Marion Taylor HI Very Lynnwood ■ Doretha Stripling Anniversary Jan. 29 ■ Van and Mitzi Sexton PERIODICAL 500 Hill 8 ,1 55108 00001 11 4 iiflMltttt George Newspaper Project MarsUbrar* University of Georgia ATHENS GA 306Q2 ALL FOR ADC 301 January 26,2008 StRMWff-.UwLsw>> 1 : B7o_ BUSINESS I Movaroa cooim ANMIX Commission votes to bring about 50,000 feet of water pipe to south Houston County. The hospital’s project titled, “Eliminating Access to Pharmacy After Hours: A Patient Safety Accomplishment,” won third place in the less than 100 beds category. According to a release, these annual awards recog nize Georgia health care organizations for achievement in reducing the risk of medical errors and improving patient safety and medical outcomes. “At times,” according to the release, “it is necessary for nurses to enter the pharmacy after-hours if they need medi cations that are kept in the pharmacy. However, the Perry Hospital staff, over concerns of increased likelihood of medi cation errors, decided to limit and/or eliminate after-hours entries into the pharmacy. They also wanted to be in compliance with The Joint Commission standard of MM.4.50, which requires safeguards to be in place when non-pharmacist healthcare professionals are allowed by law or regulation to obtain medications after-hours when the hospital pharmacy is closed. “By educating the medical staff and nursing staff along with re-evaluating See SAFETY, page SA SPORTS *-v' f mjtim l ! .j - tii ’ JjPj| Houston County HS sweeps county swim championship; high school basketball and more.
