m MASS PRECINCT MEETING
FOR VOTERS - A mass precinct
meeting for Houston County's reg
istered voters will convene in the
Centerville City Hall Community Room
- the address is 300 East Church St.
- Feb. 16. Registration begins at 9
a m. and ends promptly at 10 a.m.
All Houston County residents who
are legally registered to vote and,
according to a release, “believe in the
principles of the Republican Party" are
urged to participate in this process.
Attendees are also asked to bring their
Voter Registration Card to you to aid

- The Central Georgia Genealogical
Society, Inc. will meet Feb 11 at 7 p m.

■ WRPD CITIZEN POLICE
ACADEMY - The Warner Robins
Police Department is now taking reg
istration for the next Citizen Police
Academy. The academy is a 12-week
program. The classes will run March
3 through May 19. Participants will
learn about the criminal justice sys
tem and how the police department
to addresses community problems.
They will also learn about the different
units and get to experience some of
the training, and will allowed to ride
on patrol with the officers. You do
not have to be a citizen of Warner
Robins to participate. Some of the
other subjects include: The hiring pro
cess, traffic law and accident investi
gation, criminal, drug and crime-scene
investigations, canine operations,, use
of force and defensive tactics and

Man gets 30 yeans -18 to serve

Jerry Lee Brown, Jr.
according to a release, was
found guilty Tuesday to pos
session of cocaine and driving
with a suspended license. As
a result, Judge Katherine K.
Lumsden sentenced Brown,
31 and of a Warner Robins
address, to 30 years to serve
18 years in prison without
the possibility of parole.

Dogwood Pageant details

Plans are under way for the 2008 Miss Dogwood Pageants, sponsored by the Perry
High School cheerleaders. The pageants will be held March 15 at Perry High School
auditorium. The divisions are as follows: Tiny Miss Dogwood - 4 yearr, 4K and SK;
Little Miss Dogwood - first and second grade; Junior Miss Dogwood - third, fourth and
fifth grade; Pre-Teen Miss Dogwood - sixth and seventh grade; Teen Miss
Dogwood - eighth, ninth and 10th grade; Miss Dogwood - 11th grade through
age 22. The Dogwood Queens will reign over the Dogwood Festival in Perry April 12 and
13. Contestants, according to a release, must live, work or attend school in Houston

Chamber of Commerce at 987-1234 and an application will be mailed. The deadline to
enter March 9. The Dogwood Tea will be held at the Perry High School Cafeteria March

Probation Officer Tony
Zoumberis and two other
probation officers were out
on patrol in an unmarked car
when they observed Brown,
who they knew to have an
open warrant and a suspend
ed license. Styles then called
for Officer Aundray Barnes,
who was in a marked unit, to
pull Brown over. Barnes con
firmed the information and
then initiated a traffic stop.
At the stop, Barnes observed
Brown reaching under the
driver’s seat. Once he had
placed Brown in custody,
Barnes looked under the
driver’s seat and located a
blue-green menthol cigarette
container that had six rocks
of crack cocaine in it.
