The Demons scored their
seven in the “top” of the sev

lost the coin toss and were
the visitors even though at
home. At the time it gave
them what appeared to be a
commanding 12-6 lead. But
Newnan struck for seven of

for the win.

during that span were a

Edwin Wolfe of Warner
Robins is as they say -
going to be a lone “Wolfe”.
According to a release, he is
the only one listed locally to
compete in the Georgia Mid-
Amateur Championship,
which was slated to take
place Friday-Sunday at
Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee.
The format calls for' 18
holes of stroke play each day.
The field of 144 will be cut
to the low 70 and ties after
36 holes.
Entries were open to
male amateur golfers age 25
or older as of Friday, who
belong to a GSGA member

A total of 451 players

Leading up to that shocker,
or at least until the fourth,
Warner Robins appeared to
have things w r ell under con

The Demons scored one'in
the first inning when Nathan
Poole and Alex Fant pulled a
double steal. Both had sin
gled. Fant was thrown out
at second but that allowed
Poole to make it home from
third.
Warner Robins added two
more to that in the second.
Fant singled again, Aaron
Dobbs walked and then both
scored when the right field
er misplayed Zack Watson’s
single.
Newnan closed it to 3-2
with a pair in the bottom of
the fourth but the Demons
got them right back in the
fifth.
Poole started that off with
a single. He made it to second
on Fant’s walk, then strayed
too far off the bag. Newnan
went to pick him off, but
instead of heading back to
the bag, Poole bolted toward
third, making it when the
third baseman couldn’t hang
onto the throw. Newnan then
walked Dobbs to load the
bases before Scott walked
to bring in a run and Collin

the field.

the tournament with a

The Georgia Mid-Amateur
Championship began in 1982
and has been contested at
GSGA member clubs in all
corners of the state.
This year marks the 27th
annual event. There have
been 18 different winners in
the history of the event, with
current Champions Tour
player Allen Doyle claiming
the most titles (five), win

Legendary Atlanta ama
