to write songs expressing
their concerns about vio
lence and crime in their com
munity,” said U.S. Attorney
Maxwell Wood during a press
conference held May 21 in
Warner Robins. The press
conference was a lead-in to
the Second Annual David
Pierce Memorial Luncheon
to benefit Macon Regional
Crimestoppers. Pierce was
Chief Judge of the Magistrate
Court of Houston County
until his untimely death
from pancreatic cancer July
17, 2006. The luncheon itself,
which was presented by the
Rotary Club of Centerville,
served to raise $13,000,
which in turn was presented
to Crimestoppers at the end
of the program.
As far as the contest, this
really two main differences
between you and Maxwell.
He is Maxwell is actually
doing time for hard crime.
Pretty much his only reward
is the chance he might help
others - which of course is
pretty big.
You on the other hand have
the chance to not only help
others but also win a prize
package.
It consists of a studio pack
age - the field, said Macon
Region Crime Stoppers Board
Chairman Warren Selby

Community Relations
Specialist Pamela Lightsey,
will be picked up in a lim
ousine for a three-hcur pro

- with background (music/
vocals) provided by the stu
dio. In addition to being fea
tured on the CD, she said,
they will get a chance to visit
- for a variety of events com
ing up, she said - all over
Middle Georgia to perform
their songs.
“We want to be able to
showcase people doing some
thing positive,” Selby said.
“We will be showcasing and
highlighting those individu
als in our community who
are doing the right things
versus some of the lyrics we
hear out there today, which
are not necessarily doing
that.”
Anyone interested can
pick up an application with
details and any law enforce
ment agency, Lightsey said,
adding they are asking con
testants to provide a CD or
cassette of their song along
with the lyrics. The judg
es, she said - she said they
were selected but declined
to offer names at this point
- consist of “radio people in
music, someone from the
school board, just different
segments of the community.”
