M FLAG DAY OPEN HOUSE
AT MUSEUM - All veterans
and the public are invited to the
Museum of Aviation Saturday
for a Salute to Veterans Flag
Day Open House. The opening
ceremonies will now be held
indoors in Hangar One start
ing at 11 a.m. A color Guard
from the Georgia Society of the
Sons of the American Revolution
will present the colors in their
Revolutionary War uniforms and
the Ocmulgee Chapter of the
SAR will conduct a history of the
Flag Ceremony. The Southern
Flare Cloggers will then perform
in Hangar One at 11:30 a.m. The
Robins Air Force Base Security
Police K-9 unit will conduct a
dog handling demonstration
in the museum picnic area at
noon and at 1 p.m. in the Eagle
Building youngsters 8 years old
and above will meet a Robins
Air Force Base pilot and build a
model of an A-10 Thunderbolt II
fighter. The $5 registration fee
for the model building class can
be made on line at www.museu
mofaviation.org through the gift
shop page. The museum will
have some of their aircraft open
for display and will offer free face
painting for children. There will
also be a display of cars from
the Antique Automobile Club
of American and some military
equipment displays. For more

STARRY NIGHT DRIVE IN -
The Starry Night Drive-in at 500
Riley Ave., in Fort Valley will hold
its grand opening June 27 and
28. According to a release, there
will be free admission during the
grand opening. Gates open at
8:30 p.m., with the movie slated
to start at 9 p.m. Visit their web

- Archivist Mike Rowland is
seeking officers, enlisted, WACs,
cadets, Britons, civilians and/or

who were stationed at Cochran
Field, or lived in Macon during
WWII. He is looking for anyone
willing to contribute artifacts,
photos, articles and stories per
taining to their experience with
the men and women working
there, to the Robins AFB muse

Grace Thompson Sasser
PERRY - Grace Thompson Sasser, 84, of Perry, passed away
at her daughter’s home on Sunday, June 8, 2008, after a long ill
ness. The Burial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June
12, 2008, at the Orphans Cemetery
in Eastman. A Memorial Service will
be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, June
12, 2008, at Perry United Methodist
Church with a Celebration of Her Life
immediately following the service in
the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contribu
tions to Heart of Georgia Hospice, 103 Westridge Drive, Warner
Robins, GA 31088; Perry United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 73,
Perry, GA 31069; or First Love Ministries, P. O. Box 1316, Perry,
GA 31069.
Mrs. Sasser, the daughter of the late James and Dovie Manley
Thompson of Eastman, was born in Dodge County. After graduat
ing from Middle Georgia College, she married the late Herbert
Sasser of Mclntosh and moved to Liberty County. There she was
an elementary teacher in Hinesville until retirement. Several years
after retirement, Grace moved to Perry to be near her family. She
was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hinesville, and after
moving, she joined Perry United Methodist Church.
Grace is survived by a loving family of two children, Vivian
Pennington (Bobby) of Perry, and Tommy Sasser (Cindy) of
Eatonton; two grandchildren, Kelle Rue of Jupiter, FL, and Scott
Sasser of Tampa, FL; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler Rue, Jack
Rue, Tommy Sasser, Beck Sasser, and Kyra Pennington.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Cecil Thompson, and
her sister, Lois Thompson.

WARNER ROBINS - Louvenia Williams, 94, entered into rest
June 5, 2008.
Her memory will forever be treasured by her daughter, Delores
“Boots" Nelson, Warner Robins; brother, W. D. “Billy” Smith, Macon;
grandchildren, Jim Watson, Carol Reagan, Bob Watson, and Bill
Watson; six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and
several nieces and nephews.
