Perry team wins state; sets sights on nationals

A group of young bas
ketball players from mid
dle Georgia known as the
Perry Knights slew a lineup
of competitors in Suwanee
May 30-June 1 to win the
Youth Basketball of America
12 and under Division II
state championship.
By winning the whole
division with a 6-0 record,
the Knights received an
automatic bid to the YBOA
National Championships in
Orlando, Fla., July 26-Aug.

County,” said assistant coach
Jarvis Releford.
The 2008 Perry Knights
championship roster con
sists of:

Lockett, Zephaniah Neason,
F; Larry Felder, G; Major
Bailey, G/F; and Maalik
Leggett, G.
The Knights first played
in a four-team pool and
won all three games to
advance to the Elite 8.
First, they beat the Atlanta
Celtic 74-25, then beat the
