Memories of Dad From Page 4B
*
it doesn’t take a 40-page legal document to get me to keep
my word. Daddy was right, though. Lying is only one step
away from stealing and cheating.
Put your faith in God not man because man will let you
down. God won’t. Even the people who love us the most will
one day let us down over something. Still, I’ve had to learn
that lesson the hard way a few times from people I thought
would never disappoint me. Had I listened to Daddy in the
first place, I would never have had such high expectations.
When Daddy died, he left a few material things behind for
me to inherit: a well-worn Bible, a watch, a ring and some
money. But nothing compares to the wisdom he left behind.
Without fail, I use some of it every day.
Happy Father’s Day.

Talk ol the Town
the sky but a nice breeze to keep you somewhat cool. Kinda
quiet for the most part. That part I did like. Would you like to
know one of the neatest things I saw while down there? In the
condo that we are staying in, there are several pieces of artwork
hanging on the walls by Gloria Ragland. Can you believe that?
A Perry artist. It made me feel almost like I was in Perry.
Happy Birthday to my Taylor County friend, Mary Beth
Swearington. She turned 41 on June 8.

Talked to Kate Lewis about the “Movie Night” in downtown
Perry last weekend. And it was successful, with over 3000 peo
ple enjoying he movie downtown. Thanks to Kate for putting
this event together. Seems that everyone had a great time and
the kids loved it. Don’t you just love going to downtown in the
evening? Perry is such a pretty place to call home.
