who worked three innings
in relief of Kinnas. The left
handed rising senior struck
out five in the first three
frames. He was staked to a
1-0 lead going into the third
inning as Nelson’s line drive
single plated Stephens in the
home first.
Northside had only one
hit in the first two turns
at the plate. But with con
secutive walks and a Scott
single, Deason batted with
the bases full in that third
inning*. On one swing, the
Eagles enjoyed a three-run
edge at 4-1.
That edge, however, didn’t
survive the bottom of the
third as the Panthers put
together a four-run out
burst, all runs scoring with
two outs showing. On two
errors off one ball hit by
Daughtry, Perry had one run
back. Kinnas’ single made it
4- and a first-pitch double
from Nelson scored two for
5- Panthers.
But another half inning
(the top of the fourth)
brought another exchange
of leads. Jordan Couillard
first hit with the bases full
and singled in two runs (6-5
Northside). Though he was
unable to pull off the rare
feat of two slams in%pne
game, Deason would draw a
bases-loaded walk.
Perry’s defense this time
made an error to bring in
two more runs and the 9-5
Eagle advantage.

Bash win.
For Perry, it was another
smooth, easy-going begin
ning with a 2-0 lead through
three innings. Kinnas’ bat
continued to produce with
an RBI single in the first
inning. Daughtry bunted
Stephens into scoring posi
tion to set up Kinnas.
Tyler Simpson doubled
to left as the leadoff bat
ter in the home third. With
two outs, Daughtry put the
ball on the ground with the
result being a Viking error
and 2-0 edge.
Matt Phillips threw strikes
on the mound to get through
the first three FPD at-bats
with two hits allowed, two
hit batters, one walk and
four strikeouts.
But when the top of the
fourth ended, Presbyterian
stood on top 4-2. It all start
ed with a triple lined down
the right-field line. The
runs scored as a result of an
infield hit, two wild pitches,
a walk and three errors.
The Perry answer wouldn’t
come until the bottom of the
fifth, and Jones - starting at
second base - got it started
with his second single of the
night. There wouldn’t be
another hit, though, for the
next five batters as bases
loaded walks from Nelson
and Stephens tied the score
4-4 with two outs.
For the third time in
as many scoring rallies,
Daughtry had a big say as
he singled up the middle to
drive in two. The Vikings
added an error to give Perry
a 7-4 lead. Kinnas then
burned the centerfielder for
an RBI double.
Perry Kiser entered the
game as pitcher during the
top of the fourth. He shut
down the Vikings in the
fifth and got through the
sixth with one unearned run
allowed and three walks.
