Lost Chance To Voice Your Opinion! June 17 th , Tuesday at 6pm
City of Perry's New Growth for 2007 was
$41,458,480.00. So it's hard to say that new
growth doesn't pay its way, when the city doesn't
pay for any of the streets, water, or sewer lines
in the new development. There is another
interesting number as of May 1, 2008. The City
of Perry had 1,893 vacant residential lots ready to
be built on tomorrow. So if we say that each lot
has a tax value of $25,000.00 a lot, then this would
give the total value of $47,325,000.00. This is the
value of the vacant lots that require no water, no
sewer, no police, and no fire protection because
it is just vacant land. The water and sewer are
available on the lot but not till the connection fees
are paid will they actually use the service. With
this extra revenue, why put an extra fee on new
construction that will only drive up the property
value and drive off new commercial and industrial
growth? This is why we need your voice at the
city council meeting! They have heard from all
the organizations below but now they need to
hear from you. One hour on Tuesday night is all
we ask. Show up with your red shirt on and tell
city council to vote NO on Impact Fees!
