Never had a father - had a daddy
Reflections

Observing Father’s Day,
the thought has often
entered my mind, “I never
had a Father, I just had a
Daddy.” He was more than
“just a Daddy”, though. He
was a very special man.
One, in my estimation,
Jealousy -- Watch our for the green-eyed monster

In recent years, several
women have informed me
that they were forced to get
a divorce due to extreme
jealousy of their husbands.
The latest was a 90-year old
lady whose second husband
was irrationally jealous.
Being an outgoing person,
she was naturally garru
lous when greeting others.
Every time she spoke to a
man or a man spoke to her,
her husband would subject
her to intense interroga
tion. He would ask why
she spoke to the man and
insinuate that she might
be engaging in extramari-
that no other could “hold
a light to.”
A friend once expressed
envious feelings of my
happy relationship with
Daddy since she had never
experienced such a close
ness.
I never thought there
would be another to com
pare with the one I had, but
the man I married gained
the same title of “The
World’s Greatest Dad,”
with our two children.
At an early age our daugh
ter voluntarily commented
that it didn’t seem right
tal affairs. She finally got
fed up with the accusa
tions and showed the old
boy the door. Another lady
stated that her husband
was so possessive that he
attempted to micromanage
her social life and forbad
her from speaking to other
men. Her social inter
changes became strained
to the extent that she was
forced to clam up in pub
lic and not even look at
another man, much less
speak to one. “My hus
band smothered me with
his possessiveness,” she
lamented. “My life had
become a living hell. He
was driving me crazy with
his insane jealousy. I had
to get a divorce to maintain
my sanity.” Another man
never allowed his wife to
seek a job in the workforce
because it might prove too
great a temptation for her,
and the men around her.
Jealousy runs the gamut
of abnormality. Some men
feel neglected when a new
tion in the fall of 2008 and be operational next spring.

for the name “Father” to
be used except when talk
ing of God. “He is the only
real Father and is Father of
all,” she declared.
In terms of our Heavenly
Father, “We have one God
and Father of all, who is
above all, through all, and
in you all.” - Ephesians
4:6.

born child arrives on the
scene. The mother often
has to spend extra time
caring for and nurturing
the infant which leaves the
husband feeling left out
in the cold. Of course this
works both ways. A wife
can also feel jealous over
a husband spending extra
time with their children,
and not spending enough
time with her.
Jealousy has often been
called the green-eyed mon
ster. The monster is fueled
by envy and devours the
trust and harmony in a
marriage. The root cause of
jealousy is low self esteem
and insecurity. Jealousy
produces a living night
mare for spouses who must
live under unbearable con
ditions. National polls have
shown that one-third of
the couples who come for
marriage counseling are
plagued by jealousy.

They may be called
“Daddy,” “Papa,” or even
a creative name such as
“Babe,” given to her father
by one youngster. Never
the less, they all fit into the
same category.
My mind has been cleared
of never having a father.
Truth of the matter is, I
actually had two! (1976)

of unfaithfulness, he car

who administered the test.
The priest first placed
the woman under oath
and then made her drink
a potion of bitter water
