m MEN’S, WOMEN’S
BASIC HANOUN CLASSES
- The Warner Robins Police
Department will be offering
classes in basic handgun for
men and women. The class
es will be held at the Warner
Robins Police Department
Training Center. The women’s
class will consist of two class
room sessions lasting two hours
each and one session on the
firing range of approximately
four .hours. The men’s class
will consist of one session of
approximately eight hours. The
classroom sessions will cover
state law concerning citizens
and guns, the basics of firing a
handgun and handgun safety.
The session on the firing range
will be shooting exercises. You
must attend all sessions to com
plete the course. There is no
cost to attend. Class dates and
times are as follows: Women's
Class - July 8, 6:30 -8:30 p.m.;
July 10, 6:30-8:30 p.m.; July 12,
8 a.m.-noon. Men’s Class - July
26, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. For further

OBITUARIES
Oscar Hovatter
PERRY - Oscar Hovatter, 76, passed away on June 30, 2008,
at Coliseum Medical Center in Macon. A graveside service was
held on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at
Woodlawn Cemetery.
Born in Moatsville, West Virginia,
Mr. Hovatter was the son of the late
Isaac and Ruby Wilson Hovatter. He
was in the Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Hovatter had lived
in Perry for the last 42 years, having moved from Tifton. He worked
in the Classified Division as an Intelligence Officer at Robins
Air Force Base for just over 30 years. He was a member of the
Black Knights Society. Since his retirement, Mr. Hovatter enjoyed
the locksmith business. He apprenticed under Charles Lewis at
Houston Locksmith in Perry. He was a cherished husband, a loving
father to his only daughter, and a devoted grandfather to his only
grandson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Booth
Hovatter; his daughter and son-in-law, Stepheny and Mack
Hatchett; his grandson, Zach Hatchett; his sisters, Pauline Poling
(Joe) of Grafton, West Virginia, and Maxine Niechlo of Baltimore,
Maryland; his brother, Glen Allen Hovatter (Alice) of Grafton, Ohio;
and several nieces and nephews.

Mary P. Hitchcock
Mary P. Hitchcock, 83, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2008
at Perry Hospital. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 3,
2008, at Watson-Hunt Funeral Home.
Interment was also Thursday, July
3, 2008, in Hickory Grove Baptist
Church Cemetery in Hamilton County,
Florida.
Mrs. Hitchcock was the daughter of Carl and Katherine Peel
Peterson. She had lived in Perry for the past 22 years. A loving
mother and grandmother, she always enjoyed her family reunions.
Mrs. Hitchcock was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran.
Survivors include her children, Charles Hitchcock (Tammy) of
China Spring, Texas, Sheryl Taibi of Perry, and Marilyn Eyring
(Richard) of Midlothian, Texas; her grandchildren, Angie, Mandy,
Michael, Stephanie, Keith, Jessica, and Ricky, seven great-grand
children. She was predeceased by her son, Donald Hitchcock.

KATHLEEN - Thomas Butts, entered into rest on Monday, June
29, 2008.
Butts was born Dec. 3, 1981 in Warner Robins. He was a class
of 2000 Houston County High School graduate. Forever treasur
ing his memory are his parents, Ronald Butts and Merrial LeJune
Butts; brother, Stuart Butts, Kathleen; grandmothers, Jackie Stuart,
Macon, and Virginia Glidewell (Lewis), Macon; aunt, Nancy Baggett
(Warren), Macon.
