As it turned out, Nauss
could save the “funky stuff”
for the state tournament
later this month in Decatur.
To beat Vine-Ingle, it firdt
took a double to left from
Justin Jones to score the
go-ahead run in the home
fourth.
Warner Robins kept put
ting the ball in play with suc
cess as Griffen Martin, who
could have driven in another
run with a groundout to sec
ond, instead hit the lip of the
grass and saw the ball go by
the fielder for both the RBI
and a hit. The bench padded
things with Mcllwain’s RBl
gapper to right-center and
Sato’s single on the ground
to make it 5-1.
The fifth inning had some
dramatics with two Vine-
Ingle runners on base for a
two-out single that should
have loaded the bags. Instead,
Warner Robins made a wild
throw to third that should
have plated a run. Instead,

A marathon but ‘recovering’ nicely
Parker Lee, 8, of Perry
recovered a foul ball
in Sunday’s Braves
historic 17-inning
marathon against the
Houston Astros. The
foul ball was hit by the
Astros’ Carlos Lee.
After a one hour, 50
minute rain delay, the
Braves/Astros played
the longest game in
Turner Field, ending
with Atlanta winning
7-6 on Mark Teixeira’s
hit with the bases
loaded. “We were at
Turner Field for 12
hours on Sunday,”
said 10-year-old sister,
Lauren. "And I never
want to go back.” Lee,
however, can’t wait
for his next Braves
game adventure.
