Agricenter in Perry for the past 19 years, has brought them to Kids America. All
campers from age 3-10 rode ponies as long as they wished, as one of the activities

A small sedan and a tractor trailer truck wrecked at the intersection of 341 north
and north Perry Parkway. The 18-wheeler, in trying to avoid the sedan, sheared
the power pole in half. The pole was resting against the tractor-trailer, which in
turn held it upright. The intersection was closed for approximately seven hours.

Man injured in motorcycle-can accident

The Houston County
Sheriff’s Office, according to
a release, was called to work
a serious collision at the
intersection of Georgia 127
and Perry Parkway Tuesday.
According to the release,
Katina Felder, a 34-year-old
from Perry, was operating a
1985 Oldsmobile Cutlass west
bound on Perry Parkway.
She, according to the release,
was in the designated left
turn lane.

a release, was called to inves
tigate a crash on Georgia
26 just west of Elko Road
Sunday.
During that time, Oscar
Williams, a 64-year-old
male from Hazlehurst, was
operating a 2005 Chevrolet
Trailblazer east bound
on Georgia 26 between
Henderson Springs Road and
Elko Road.
At the same time, William
Derrell Long, * a 19-year-old
male from Unadilla, was
operating a 2004 Ford Fl5O
ext-cab pick-up and headed
west bound. Williams, accord
ing to the release, failed to

Nixon, a 47-year-old from
Hawkinsville, was operat
ing a 2001 Harley Davidson
motorcycle east bound on
Perry Parkway in the desig
nated straight lane of trav
el.
Felder, according to the
release, failed to yield the
right of way and turned in
front of Nixon’s motorcycle.
He was unable to avoid the
collision and ran into the
side of her car.
Nixon was transported to
maintain his lane and crossed
into the west-bound lane.
The two vehicles struck head
on. Williams was pronounced
deceased at the scene. Seven
other people were transport
ed to the Houston Medical,
Macon Medical and to an
Atlanta Hospital. The seven
injured were all in the Ford
Fl5O and included the driver.
Their ages range from 15-
25 years of age. Several, as of
Wednesday were still in the
hospital and two were in criti
cal condition.
The investigation and
autopsy have found alcohol
to be a factor in the crash, the
release states.
The incident is still under
investigation by the Houston
County Traffic Division.

Payne wages campaign for sheriff

With the final countdown
on Tuesday, Chad Payne and
his volunteers have taken to
the streets.
You may have even seen
the candidate, his family and
his campaign team, stand
ing on high-traffic corners,
wearing their “safety” green
t-shirts and waving signs to
ask for votes.
Payne, who is running
against incumbent Sheriff
Cullen Talton in the
Republican primary, says
he’s been starting his days
at 6 a.m. “when it’s still
cool,” and winding up as late
as 11 p.m.
On Wednesday morn
ing, he was at the corner of
Green Street and Hwy. 247
as the sun rose, joined by
his 12-year-old son and four
volunteers.
His effort from the start,
he explained, has been to
reach as many voters one
on-one as possible, and he
plans to continue the effort
through Tuesday.
“I’ve had a very limited
budget,” he explained, “And
when you don’t have those
resources, you get to the
basics.’
