innings of a 7-0 outcome.
An elimination game
between Western Little
League and West Macon,
one that began on Monday,
was postponed to Tuesday
due to the threat of severe
weather. West Macon would
defeat Western and then
faced Warner Robins Blue
on Wednesday.
The Blues won by a 6-

through four innings. But

“In fact I got to wondering so I start
ed looking. (For instance) there was
this one guy named Larry. He pitched
a 25, 22 and 10 (percent). Against me,
he pitched 50! I couldn’t beat that even
if I was ‘on.’”
Plus, he said in regard to how com
petitive this year’s talent turned out
to be.
“Our division went: ‘First place,”’
he said, “and then second all the way
down to seventh was tied. The only
thing that separated them was their
ringer percentage.”
Overall Thompson finished 14th. He

Conner Brown each pitched
scoreless relief.
“It was neat,” said
Johnson about the all
city final. “We all took our
picture together after the
game. (The Blue) did a good
job. It’s tough for a second
team to get this far. But
they are well-coached and
good kids.”
For Warner Robins Red,
was 2-3 Tuesday and finished 4-11
overall. He had 159 ringers out of 600
horseshoes pitched.
“If you go into a division at 30 (per
cent - the rating that put him in the
division, 11, to start with),” he added,
“and pitch 26 (percent - his final aver
age) you’re not going to win, anyway.
At this level it’s that competitive.
Thompson did have the solace, how
ever, of seeing old friends - “friends for
life” even though he typically only sees
them once a year - and he and his wife
also got to see the sights: “The Ohmish
people,” Hershey, Penn., et cetera.
His son, who is a captain in the Army

champion Thursday and wasn’t slated
to finish up until Saturday. After the
