DEVELOPMENT
WORKSHOPS - As part of the
Georgia Made Georgia Grown
initiative, two professional devel
opment workshop for artisans
are being offered locally. On July
23, Artist Anne Jenkins will pres
ent “Get Your Free Website and
Sell Your Art Online Today”. The
cost of attending is S3O per per
son. The workshop will be held at
the Perry Welcome Center from
10 am- 3 p.m. with a one-hour
break for lunch. Lunch will be
on your own or you may bring a
brown bag lunch. Reserve your
space by July 16 by calling the
Perry Welcome Center at 478-
988-8000 or email info@perryga.
com. Also, on Aug. 6, Donald
Rhodes with the UGA Small
Business Development Center
will present “10 Mistakes that
Sabotage Business". This work
shop will be an entrepreneur’s
guide to avoiding 10 common
business mistakes in planning,
marketing, recordkeeping, con
trols, finance, cash lows, strat
egy, debt, credit and inventory.
The cost of attending is $lO per
person. Workshop will be held at
the Perry Welcome Center from
3:30-5 p.m. Reserve your space
by July 30 by calling the afore
mentioned number or via the
aforementioned e-mail. Space
is limited, and pre-registration by
the deadline is required. These
are official workshops of the
Georgia Made Georgia Grown
initiative and attendance will go
toward certifying local artists to
official participate as a Georgia
Made Georgia Grown vendor.
■ SOUTHEASTERN
SHINDIG - The Southeastern
Shindig will be rolling into the
Georgia National Fairgrounds
and Agricenter (McGill Bldg.)
Aug. 2. The doors open at 8
a.m. and the event runs until 4
p.m. (Attendees will not be able
to park their cars inside the build
ing if arriving after 11:00am.) The
event, according to a release,
will be a family oriented meet
and-greet event that is exclu
sively for owners of Chrysler’s
LX platform of vehicles, which
include the Chrysler 300, Dodge
Magnum, Dodge Charger arid
the hotly anticipated Dodge
Challenger. There is no cost to
attend this event and the only
requirement is that you own one
of these vehicles. Door prizes
will be given away periodically
throughout the day in addition
to vendor sponsored drawings.
Additionally, “How To” clinics will
be given by our vendors and
sponsors for products pertaining
to the LX platform vehicles.
■ MOSSY CREEK MIDDLE
MEETINGS - Mossy Creek
Middle School has scheduled
its School Council meetings for
the 2008-2009 school year. The
meetings will be held bi-monthly
on a Wednesday. All meetings
will be held at 7 a.m. in the
media center with the exception
of the January meeting, which
will be held at 6 p.m. The meet
ings are: Aug. 13, Oct. 15, Dec.
10, Jan. 14, 2009, March 11
and May 6. An election will also
be held on January 14, 2009,
immediately following the meet-,
ing. The election will be held to
replace members with expiring
terms. Mossy Creek Middle is
located at 200 Danny Carpenter

any comments relative to a Special Exception petition. The applicant is requesting
a Special Exception to have a facility for the treatment of drug dependency at Grace

OBITUARIES
Martha P. Coffee
Martha P. Coffee, 79, passed away at the Houston Medical
Center on Wednesday, July 9, 2008. Funeral Services will be
held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2008 at the Perry United
Methodist Church with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Coffee was born in Savannah, was the daughter of the
late Bartow L. and Lillian (Crawford)
Petrino and had lived in Houston
County most of her life. She was
retired from Civil Service at Robins Air
Force Base and was a member of the
Christ Scientist Church in Macon.
Survivors include her children, Tracy Coffee of New Cumberland,
PA, Tommy Coffee of Kathleen, Eddie Coffee of Kathleen, Darlene
Coffee and Tony Coffee, both of Perry; eight grandchildren and
seven great grandchildren.

Bea Williams
PERRY - Bea Williams, 76, passed away on Wednesday, July 9,
2008 in Macon. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday
at Woodlawn Cemetery. „„
Mrs. Williams, born in Macon
County, Georgia, was the daughter
of the late Reuben and Myra (Silvers)
Felker, and had lived in Houston
County most of her life.
Survivors include her daughters, Debra Grim of Perry and Joanie
Shewman (Leroy) of Unadilla; granddaughter, Tralisha Boyd
(Casey); great grandchildren, Macy Boyd and Ryan Boyd.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lorene Hardage and her
loving husband, Joe Williams.

In accordance with Article II of Perry City Code, notice is hereby given
that all cats and dogs within the City of Perry must be registered in the
office of the Tax Clerk no later than July 31, 2008. Before registration tag
is issued, the owner or custodian must furnish the Tax Clerk with a current
innoculation certificate from a licensed veterinarian. The cost of each tag is
$7.00 and each tag must be properly secured to a collar and worn around
the neck of the dog or cat at all times. Puppies and kittens must be registered
at 12 weeks of age. Dog and cat owners or custodians who shall violate the
provision of Article II of Perry City Code shall be guilty of an offence against
