a WRPD CITIZEN POLICE
ACADEMY - The Warner
Robins Police Department is
now taking registration for the
next Citizen Police Academy.
The Citizen Police Academy is
a 12-week program. The class
es will be on Thursday eve
nings from 6-8 p.m. beginning
Aug. 7 and running through
Oct. 23. The classes will meet
at the Warner Robins Police
Department Training Center
located on Stalnaker Dr. off
Highway 247 South. The pur
pose of the Citizen Police
Academy is not to teach mem
bers of the community to be
police officers. It is an oppor
tunity for them to gain a better
understanding of the respon
sibilities and challenges of the
police profession. Participants
learn about the criminal jus
tice system and how the police
department addresses com
munity problems. Participants
get to learn about the different
units in the police department
and get to experience some
of the training. They also are
allowed to ride on patrol with
the officers. You do not have to
be a citizen of Warner Robins
to participate. Some of the
subjects that will be presented
include: Hiring Process - Traffic
law and Accident Investigation;
Criminal Investigations;
Drug Investigations; Canine
Operations; SWAT Team; Crime
Scene Investigations; Use of
Force and Defensive Tactics -
Firearms. If you are interested in

■ WR LITTLE THEATRE
AUDITIONS - Warner Robins
Little Theatre will be holding
auditions for its second show of
the 2008-09 season "The Dining
Room", Aug. 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m.
The show is a comedy/drama
by A. R. Gurney, Dramatist
Play Service, and directed by
Venis Glover. The script calls
for three men and three women.
Location for the auditions is:
Warner Robins Little Theatre,

Warner Robins. Play dates will
be Sept. 12-13,18-20 and 25-27
at 8 p.m. and Sept. 14 and 21 at

■ HCHS PARKING PERMITS
- Houston County High School
student parking permits will go
on sale beginning July 22 in the
Attendance Office. Permits will
be sold beginning with upper
classmen on a first-come, first
serve basis. Purchasing dates
and times are: July 22, 8 a.m.to
noon - Seniors only; July 24, 8
a.m.to noon - Juniors only; July
25,8 a.m. to noon - Sophomores
only; July 29-31, 8 a.m.to noon
- any eligible student. Permits
may also be purchased before
or after school beginning Aug.

mit, students must have: current
vehicle registration card issued
with the vehicle's license plate;
proof of current vehicle insur
ance; a valid driver’s license
(parents may provide a copy of
their child’s license if registering
their child); SSO cash or check
or money order made payable

DOG SHOW - Tractor Supply
Company in Warner Robins/
Byron is hosting the Dog Daze
of Summer Children Fun Dog
Show July 26. It is free to the
public. It begins at 9 a.m. and
will be inside the store. The
show is for children ages 4 to
14 and will include several fun
classes including largest, small
est, hairiest, least hairiest, hap
piest tail, best trick, best cos
tume and most obedient. There
is a special class that adults
can participate: best owner/dog
look-alike. Prizes will be given
to the winners. Each child par
ticipating will receive a gift. All
dogs are required to be on a

Tracy Clark, physical therapist
with Houston Healthcare’s
Rehabilitation Services, will
be the guest speaker. A light
lunch will be served. Seating
6-8 p.m. The orientation will
begin in the theatre. A concur
rent session will be held in the
gym to accommodate additional
seating. Ninth-grade students
and parents will attend infor
mational sessions pertaining to
rules, policies and procedures.
Students and their parents are
highly encouraged to attend.
There will not be an orientation
for tenth- through twelfth -grad
ers. Upperclassmen should
report on the first day of school
to their connections teacher to
receive their schedules. Houston

ers (include all power cord and
accessories when possible),

and game systems, and GPS

opment workshop for artisans

SHINDIG - The Southeastern
Shindig will be rolling into the
Georgia National Fairgrounds
and Agricenter (McGill Bldg.)
Aug. 2. The doors open at 8 a.m.
and the event runs until 4 p.m.
(Attendees will not be able to
park their cars inside the build
ing if arriving after 11 a.m.) The
event, according to a release,
will be a family oriented meet
and-greet event that is exclu
sively for owners of Chrysler’s
LX platform of vehicles, which
include the Chrysler 300, Dodge
Magnum, Dodge Charger and
the hotly anticipated Dodge
Challenger. There is no cost to
attend this event and the only
requirement is that you own one
of these vehicles. Door prizes
will be given away periodically
throughout the day in addition
to vendor sponsored drawings.
Additionally, “How To" clinics will
be given by our vendors and
"Your date with destiny"
sponsors for products pertaining
to the LX platform vehicles.
■ MOSSY CREEK MIDDLE
MEETINGS - Mossy Creek
Middle School has scheduled
its School Council meetings for
the 2008-2009 school year. The
meetings will be held bi-monthly
on a Wednesday. All meetings
will be held at 7 a.m. in the
media center with the exception
of the January meeting, which
will be held at 6 p.m. The meet
ings are: Aug. 13, Oct. 15, Dec.
10, Jan. 14, 2009, March 11 and
May 6. An election will also be
held on Jan. 14, 2009, immedi
ately following the meeting. The
election will be held to replace
members with expiring terms.

CAR WASH - Hearts to
Heroes will be holding a car
wash July 19 from noon-3 p.m.,
behind Cheddar's Casual Case
located at 2915 Watson Blvd
in Warner Robins. All washes
will be by donation, which goes
towards the shipping costs of
care packages to the troops
that are deployed overseas. For

COUNCIL ELECTION -
Feagin Mill Middle School will
hold a School Council election
July 22, at 5:30 p.m. in the
media center. One parent/busi
ness person will be elected for
a two-year term. In order to
serve on the school council in
the capacity of a parent busi
nessperson, prospective nomi
nees must have a child who
will be enrolled at Feagin Mill
Middle in the upcoming school
year. This person must also be
employed by a for-profit busi
ness entity. Feagin Mill Middle

■ RED CROSS MEETING
- The Houston-Middle Georgia
Chapter of the American Red
Cross will host its annual meet
ing July 29 at 6:30 p.m. The
meeting is in the Community
Room on the second floor of the
new Lowe Toyota dealership,
375 South Houston Lake Road,
Warner Robins. The annual
meeting and dinner is open to
all Red Cross volunteers and
anyone else interested in learn
ing more about the organization.

■ NARFE PICNIC - National
Association of Retired Federal
Employees, Chapter 1020,
Warner Robins, is hosting a
picnic Oct. 4 for all members
of Chapter 1020, spouses, and

nic will be at the Museum of

by the Victory Cafeteria at the
Museum. The area is reserved

FOR THE DEMOLITION OF CHIEFS’ CIRCLE RESIDENTIAL
STRUCTURES AT ROBINS AIR FORCE
Robins Air Force Base (AFB) announces the availability for public review and comment of the
proposed Draft Final Environmental Assessment (EA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact
(FONSI) for the Demolition of Chiefs’ Circle Residential Structures at Robins AFB.
The proposed action is to bring the land use at the Chiefs’ Circle residential site into conformance
with the Robins AFB’s Area Development Plan (which includes the physical relocation of various
functions to improve overall effectiveness and efficiency of base functions and operations) without
significant expenditures of money time and/or resources; and to reduce expenditures associated with
the continued repair and maintenance of vacant and underutilized facilities.
A copy of the proposed EA and FONSI are available for public viewing and comment for the next
30 days in the Nola Brantley Memorial Library (also known as the Houston County Library), 721
