Centerville continues search for police chief
By KRYSTAL RINER
Journal Staff Writer
Twelve applicants will be
narrowed down into a group
of finalists for the police
chief job in Centerville, it
was determined by the City
Council during their meeting
Tuesday.
City Administrator Patrick
Edison said he expects a hir
ing decision to be made by
the council within a month
or two. A board made up
of two members, Randall
Wright and Edward Tucker,
is currently reviewing the
applications.
Willie Talton, who is a state
representative, had served as
the chief on an interim basis
for the department from the
time of former Chief Ernie
Pardo’s termination in 2007.
However, that role ended for
him in July.
“ We are currently operat
ing without an active chief,”
Edison said, “but the staff
and city administrators are
handling the day to day
things.”
This is not the first go
round in the search for a
police chief. The first attempt
brought out 15 applicants.
In June, City Council voted
to hire Fairburn Police Lt.
Randy Mundy. He reportedly
accepted the job, but three
days later changed his mind
after receiving a counter
offer. According to Eidson,
none of the new applicants
applied in the first round of
applications.

“The second device was

Both suspicious devices
