Driver Appreciation Week
recently Frito Lay celebrated
drivers who have traveled 1
million miles. One million
miles: “Accident free.”
Andrew Padgett and
Charles Kemp, both based
at thd Perry plant, hit their
one-million mile mark this
year. •
According to Padgett it
has taken him since 1991 to
reach that milestone.
To help pave the way, he
has had several different
training courses, which he
contributes, to his safe driv
ing techniques.
“Prayer has a lot to do
with me being accident
free,” he added, however.
“God keeps me safe on the
road.”
Padgett works mainly in
the Atlanta area but said he
has driven his share of long

Little Hannah Marie
Vines adjusted quickly to
life in America. Hannah
was adopted from a large
orphanage in Abakan,
Russia, where she shared a
room with 10 other young
children.
Hannah was adopted
when she was 2 1/2 years
old. Sam and Christine
Vines decided before their
marriage that they would
one day adopt a child.
Although, they had two
children of their own,
Jessica and Robbie, they
wanted to help a child
through adoption.
The family used Christian
World Adoption center,
located in North Carolina
to adopt Hannah.

Hannah would need spe

lion, 2 million or 3 million
was born with, but that
mattered little.
To date Hannah has had
a total of eight surgeries
and is facing more. Now 10
years old, she is still small
in size, but she sees this as
an advantage to help her
succeed as a gymnast.
Hannah started taking
gymnastics at the basic level
in October 2005. She has
advanced into the Division
3 competition team.
“She always seems
happy, and is a very driv
en little girl,” said Mandy
Williamson, a gymnastics
coach at the YMCA.
According to Williamson,
Hannah’s strong points
are the bars and dance;
she practices three times
a week, three hours a ses
sion.
Christine Vines said,
“Gymnastics has helped
Hannah with her self
esteem,” she continued,

WR law enforcement to get $11,924 grant

U.S. Senators Johnny Isakson, R-Ga.,
and Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., announced
last week that the city of Warner Robins
would receive an $11,924 grant from the
Bureau of Justice Assistance. The money,
according to a release, is to aid in local law
enforcement.
The U.S. Department of Justice’s Edward
Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant
Program will distribute the funding.
