Chris Summer stepped up next
to speak; he is a resident in Eagle
Springs. He questioned the council
as to why they even started down
the path of such a large increase.
“We have gone through a lot of
anger and aggravation to get this
small increase,” he said. “I am just
wondering why we even had to
start with such a high increase to
begin with.”
Edwards replied to many of the
questions about the increase and
explained that as the cost of servic
es increase; the city has to go with
those tax values and bases.
Councilman Cameron Andrews
said to the public: “Initially look
ing at the numbers in this is mind
boggling,” he said. “We as a council
have always been careful about how
we handle taxes in Centerville.”
“I was hard pressed to vote for
this small increase, I wanted at
least a one mill increase. But after
talking to people I think we can
ride it out and see what happens for
another year.”
