Wisdom according to the life of me
Readers have often
reassured me that
among their favor
ite columns are the ones in
which I share the wisdom
passed down to me by my
parents. But just this morn
ing I got to thinking: I have
some wisdom, too, that I can
share.
This much I have come
to know in life: Wisdom is
accumulated through much
trying and toil. It comes not
just from failures, hard times
and losses, it also drifts in
on the back of happiness,
success, love and adventure.
Wisdom, I have learned, is
an intermingling of all the
phases of our life. What we
do right, teaches us as much
as what we do wrong. And

and she exclaimed, “The
trees are unusually pretty
this year!” All six of us boys
(me being the daddy of the
other five) agreed that the
colors of the leaves were
especially vibrant. Not that
we actually knew one way or
the other, but if mama said
it, it must be so.
A little further down the
highway, she takes her glass
es off, puts them back on,
and repeats the process a
couple more times. Then she
starts laughing, and through
that familiar gleeful tone, she
explains that the sun glasses
she bought had an orange
tint that made all the trees
look even more colorful than
normal the entire autumn
season.
Of course, we all had to
look through the glasses, so
we passed them around the
car, taking turns and com
menting on how pretty the
trees looked through the
glasses. Still laughing, she
said, “Well, they are still
prettier than normal, even
without the glasses.” We all
agreed based on the natural
law that was previously ref
erenced (latter half of third
sentence).
Etiquette, the holidays
Dear Readers:
Everyday we are
challenged to use
our knowledge of etiquette
to afford us opportunities or
to resolve situations.
As I look forward to the hol
idays and the fast approach
ing New Year, I have added
to the list of things that I am
thankful for along with the
improvements I seek both
personally and profession
ally. To enhance my skills,
talents and natural abilities
and obtain a positive result
will require continued sup
port from you, compassion,
business savvy, patience, and
prayer. This helps to keep
me in alignment with what
is meant for me and not so
much the distractions heard
daily. By day, we are the busi
ness persons or the consumer
concerned with price, prod
ucts and services. Maybe we

to our community, and I
think that it will bring lots
of people from outside our
area to shop in Perry.
Talking about shopping in
Perry, I hope this Christmas
season that everyone will
try to shop locally first in
Houston County.
It sure does help the local
economy, and our business
owners do appreciate your
patronage.
