at 51-50. The guard also
made three foul shots in a
row during a technical situ
ation against the visitors.
Despite Perry’s struggles
in shooting over the zone
defense, Kendrick made the
home crowd forget all about
that with back-to-back 3-
pointers.
All eight of Kendrick’s
fourth-period points came
in succession for his team.
Senior Michael Walker added
a trey in a stretch where
Perry outscored Americus-
Sumter 14-3.
Perry also made 12 out of
15 foul shot attempts in the
fourth. Americus-Sumter
missed six from the stripe in
that same span. '
It took several minutes
for the gathered crowd to
get into this game due to
the sloppy play from both
sides. Even two nice assists
from McGhee - a no-looker
to Jones plus another one to
Jones against the press - did
little to spark excitement.
A length-of-the-floor throw
from Kendrick to Jones
woke things up and gave
Perry a 12-6 lead.
The six Americus-Sumter
points came off ball-han
dling turnovers. Perry found
little offensive success as
the quarter ended, and the

with a four-point play at 4.2

PERRY GIRLS FMi 57-41
The Perry High girls bas
ketball team never got its
offense on track Friday at
home, falling to Americus-
Sumter County for the sec
ond time this month. The
2-6 Lady Panthers got 13
points, three steals and two
blocks from Kenisha Wilson
and 10 points from Lay Lay
Rountree.
Tiffany James and Tae
McGhee each made 3-point
ers in the opening quarter,
but with Americus-Sumter’s
quickness to the offensive
glass and points off take
aways the visitors led 15-8
after one quarter. A 12-0 run
for Americus-Sumter started
the second, Wilson breaking
the streak with a stick-back
(after her block in the other
end) at 2:50.

Rountree ran the floor to
get the final points of the
half, Perry trailing 29-16.
The guest Lady Panthers
would then get eight of its
first 10 third quarter points
off turnovers. Rountree
again had the last say of a
period beating the quarter
buzzer (51-24).
Both Rountree and
Jasmine Davis scored off
steals in the fourth, and
Wilson put in two offensive
rebounds.

impact his game. Overall,
the Bears cooled down, and
the Spartans reeled off eight
in a row. Campbell scored
after blocking a shot at the
26-second mark, and the
third ended with the Bears
clinging to a 55-54 advan
tage.
Stotts gave the Houston
crowd some inspired basket
ball early in the fourth. He
got an assist to Nunn inside
and recovered a blocked shot
to score with behind-the
back dribbling. Campbell
would jump ahead for the
first time in the half, 60-59,
at 6:03.
The Bears’ outside game
was not quite as efficient
down the stretch. Stanton
did give Houston the lead
back right away connecting
from a foot beyond the line,
but Campbell, getting the
second shots Davey denied
when he patrolled the paint,
went back ahead 64-62.
Stotts, following in anoth
er miss, had the Bears with
in one, 70-69, with less than
two minutes to go. Houston
County had no foul shot
attempts in the fourth to
16 for the Spartans, but the
