He never presses him to pay, because he knows that an increase of his salary must be had before he can pay the rent. The increase never comes, but the credit is extended, and Jesus says, “Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of ihese, ye did it to me.” That is, you credited him. He says, “You credited me, and lam going now to pay you for it.” And all that means that Jesus endorses the paper of his servants whenever credit is extended to them for his sake. In ordinary cases these men of God pay their debts, and do not leave the account open until Christ shall come into the final settlement. But some times it pleases God to afflict and disable his servants. They are prostrated by disease and cannot possibly earn the money to even buy bread for their families. Those who trusted them cannot get anything out of them. Does it not look like very reckless business policy to credit a man who has nothing but his religion to give as a “collat”? But stop! The roll of the world’s blessed business men has on it the name of many a man now glorified who did give credit in just such cases because Jesus stood at his elbow and “went security for his servant.” Many a dollar involved in debts of that kind have never appeared on earthly ledgers, except in the account of “profit and loss.” But not so up yonder. Jesus assumes the debt. And there is a day coming in which he will judge the world in righteousness, and then he will pay off all those old security debts. And many good men will be disposed to say, “Oh, no, Lord, you do not owe that to me,” but he will say: “Oh, yes. I endorsed the note my servant gave for that money you loaned him. I sent affliction on him that kept him from paying the notes. You credited him, therefore you credited me, and I shall make it good.” SOUTHERN SHORTHAND and BUSINESS UNIVERSITY ATLANTA, GA. 13,000 Graduates in positions. 787 calls from business men last year for bookkeepers and stenographers.
