GEORGIA’S VICTORY.
Ring the bells, and ring them gladly,
Let it everywhere be known
That the people here in Georgia,
Their true bravery have shown.
That, tho’ long has waged the conflict,
Prohibition won the fight;
And whate’er may be the outcome,
Georgia stands for God and right.
Nature wears a smiling aspect;
All the earth seems to rejoice,
As if our Divine Creator
Through her would His sanction
voice.
O, thou who dost reign above us,
Hear these our humble prayers,
Pour out on us Thy great blessings,
In these prohibition years!
Our noble Georgia people
Could not -calmly stand aside
And see so great an evil
Spread o’er their State, both far
and wide.
And so they’ve been earnestly striving
Ever since the fight began,
To rid their State of this great evil;
And, at last, the battle’s won.
As to you, oh, our lawmakers,
Who your duty so nobly have done,
Men will rise and call you blessed
When they stand before God’s
throne!
You will hear this welcome plaudit
Ringing through Eternity:
“Inasmuch as ye have done this,
Ye have done it unto me.”
Now, you do not realize fully,
The extent of what you’ve done;
Do not know the homes you’ve bright
ened,
And the souls for Eternity won.
For there are many now in Georgia,
Who will be great men, we think,
When we finally rid our country
Os the awful curse of drink.
In this world you will not know
All the good which you have
wrought,
Though you may hear many say:
“Our Legislature can’t be bought.”
But your reward is with your Maker,
And when your work on earth is
done,
You will see what was accomplished
When Georgia Prohibition won.

WHISKEY AND MORPHINE.
Whiskey and morphine, both alike,
are great blessings to the world when
used as God designed, not to make
people drunkards and fools, but to al
leviate pain and to comfort and bene
fit the sick, but when we behold the
vast devastation and destruction of
property and life —both soul and body
—and then we compare in our minds
the destruction of human life, with
all the evils of the world, we find
that whiskey has destroyed more lives
and property than all the wars that
have taken place since the creation
of the world, and other evils that
are now cursing the world. These
facts have been presented to the pub
lic mind in such away as to call
forth the almost universal opposition
to this awful curse that is devouring
the country to an awful state and

condition of morals and intellect, that
does much in paralyzing the best inter
est of the religious world. But we
are glad to see at this time that
the religious world is more thoroughly
together in opposition to this great
monster evil than at any time since
the formation of our state government.
Whiskey feeds your alms houses, your
jails, your prison houses, your peni
tentiaries, your gambling dens, your
houses of ill fame, and then your state
asylum that has at this time 3,500
inmates, the most of them from the
curse of whiskey and morphine habits.
This awful and fearful condition of
things as seen in Georgia, has brought
forth a voice of condemnation from
all the people asking the legislature
to pass a prohibition law against the
sale of intoxicants anywhere in the
state of Georgia, which the legislature
has responded to in the passage of
one of the best laws ever enacted by
any legislature since the formation of
our state government. The provisions
of this bill as put into laws are such
as to commend it to the people who
are so greatly blessed in its passage.
We believe the bill correct in all of
its details, it should be kept in the
spirit of the makers who will ever
wear a crown of glory that will never
fade out or grow dim.
We beliece that the passage of this
law will be worth millions to the
state of Georgia, not only in money,
but in everything pertaining to the
best interests of all the people in in
tellect, morals and religion. The ob
ject of this law Is to suppress evil and
to do good. We come to the poor man
or woman in love and sympathy, and
plead with him to give up his habit that
is so destructive to home and life and
happiness, but, poor man, can’t give up
this deadly poison; because of his want
of moral courage, we come to him with
this prohibition law as the best friend
on earth for him, because it does for
him what he cannot do for himself.
This law does not degrade, but ele
vates and dignifies the whole meta
physical man, both soul and body. We
are glad that Georgia is in the lead
in this great prohibition work, and
that other states are preparing to fol
low Georgia in her grand work for
prohibition. J. N. HURST.
LITTLE KNOWN PAPER MONEY.
“It is a curious fact that no one man
out of ten can tell you the design on
any one of the current United States
bank notes,” said a collector of paper
money. “Os course I don’t refer to
the notes of high denomination. I mean
everyday, common bank notes of low
denominations. And I do not bar in
this statement many employes in
banks. They handle money in a me
chanical way, and I’ll venture that
many of them would be stumped if
you were to ask them to give you a
detailed description of a one-dollar bill.
He would instantly recognize it when
it came to hand —but each man trusts
more to a general impression of what
constitutes the outlines of a certain
note than he realizes. There was a
very clear illustration of the truth of
my statement the other day in Indiana.
“In the vaults of a bank at Roches
ter, Ind., there had lain for a number
of years a package of five dollar na-
