Ttie Wall Street Panic
J.O.
Last week the entire country was frightened for
a day by the failure of one of the largest banking
institutions in the city of New York. The people
were asking if it were possible that another finan
cial panic, like that of 1893, was upon us. Fortu
nately, it was only the result of Wall Street spec
ulation. The country is safe and sound, business is
good and prosperity continues. But this financial
flurry reminds us of a few things. It reminds us
that
The Time to Get Ready for a Panic is in Times of
Prosperity.
When everything is safe and sound, business good
and money easy is the time to lay by for a rainy
day. But there is a still more important lesson
for us. It is this:
The Untrained Man is the One Who Loses Out First.
It is true that whenever hard times come to a
country, the untrained are the first to lose their
positions. Business demands the very highest effi
ciency, the efficient employes—the ones who have
been scientifically trained and prepared—are the
ones who hold theirl positions, while the ones who
have not had this training are the ones "who are
thrown out of employment. The time to get the
necessary training is during times of prosperity.

A Paying Investment
Would you rather invest yourmoney in a company that has made
over 33 1-3 per cent in the lost six months, that is managed by some
of the ablest men in the South, that numbers prominent Bankers, Mer
chants and Real Estate men among its stockholders, than get the small
per cent that your money is bringing you now? Here is an oppor
tunity for the careful investor, large and small.
Since its organization, six months ago, the Mutual Investment Com
pany of Atlanta, Ga., has made over one-third on its invested capital.
Every share bought at par—slo—is today worth one-third more than
its purchase price. This means that the present owners could sell out
at a profit of more than 33 per cent, but none of this original stock is
for sale. It is the same with other companies of a similar kind, their
stock cannot be bought, in fact, it doesn’t change hands after the first
purchase— it is too valuable.
The stockholders of the Mutual Investment Company, seeing the
wonderful possibilities of the company, have voted to increase the cap
ital stock from $42,000 to $500,000, in shares of $lO each. This means
that $458,000 of new capital will De used, and with it even larger profits
will be made. The present holders will themselves buy a large part of the
new stock, thereby sharing in the profit, but some of it will be placed
upon the market to be sold in small lots.
The standing of the men connected with the Mutual Investment
Company is surety of its success, and the perfect safety of your money,
which will not only produce large dividends, but increase in value
at once. There is no waiting. We now own actual property in Atlanta
to the value of over $63,000, which is bringing in a fine rent, and could
be sold tomorrow at a price far above its cost.
Write for our handsome prospectus, telling more fully than we can
here what a big paying investment we have.

CHARTIER SHORTHAND
No one should take up the study of stenography
before investigating this wonderful system of short
hand. It can bo learned in one-half the time re
quired for Graham, Pitman or Gregg written much
faster and read quite as easily as if written in lang
hand. Students attain a speed of 100 words to 150
words per minute in from two to five months.
Because Chartier shorthand is so easy to learn
and can be mastered with so much less study than
is required for the other systems, the student is
afforded ample time for typewriting practice and
the study of all the other practical branches, which
are absolutely necessary in order to become a high
grade stenographer. Students in this system are
able to write letters in shorthand the second day.
Remember that this is the only school in Atlanta
in which Chartier shorthand can be learned. We
have the exclusive right to teach it. Investigate the
system and be convinced of its wonderful merits.
Many students have given up Graham, Pitman and
Gregg after four or five months’ study, in order to
take up the Chartier system. Don’t make a mis
take, investigate and you will be a Chartier enthu
siast.
