Wishes to tell you FREE
How She Stopped
Her Husband’s Drinking
By all Means Write to Her
and Learn how She did it.
For over 20 years James Anderson of 296 Elm
Ave., Hillburn, N. Y., was a very hard drinker.
fHis case seemed a hope
less one, but 10 years ago
his wife in their own little
home, gave him a simple
remedy which much to her
delight stopped his drink
ing entirely.
To make sure that the
remedy was responsible for
this happy result she also
tried it on her brother and
several of her neighbors. It
was successful in every
¥^ : .. case. None of them has
touched a drop of in-
I. • ; ' ) toxicating liquor since.
She now wishes every
one who has drunkenness in their homes to try
this simple remedy for she feels sure that it will
do as much for others as it has for her. It can be
given secretly if desired and without cost she will
gladly and willingly tell you what it is. All you
have to do is write her a letter asking her how she
cured her husband of drinking and she will reply
by return mail in a sealed envelope. As she has
nothing to sell do not send her money. Simply
send a letter with all confidence to Mrs. Margaret
Anderson at the address given above, taking care
to write your name and full address plainly.
( We earnestly advise every one of our readers who
wishes to cure a dear one of drunkenness to write
to this lady today. Her offer is a sincere one.)

What Are You Thankful For ?
Last week I gave my full space, and
am giving much of it this week, to
Mr. C. I. Garett’s story, as given by
“Billie.” First, because I felt it
would give you things to think of that
would not only make you better Sun
day School scholars, but better men
and women for the future. And, sec
ond, because one “Billie” that I know
has smoked enough of these vile little
creatures to know whereof he speaks,
and his testimony would come, there

A THANKSGIVING APPEAL.
An earnest appeal is made for a
Thanksgiving offering in behalf of the
Leonard Street Colored Orphans’
Home, 39 Leonard street, Atlanta, Ga.
Since the founding of the home at
least six hundred girls have known
the care and protection of a Christian
home, and it is a worthy cause.
The home is not connected with any
other institution in the city, is unde
nominational, and without the support
of any organization. The city gives
exemption from taxes and provides
free water supply.
At the present time we have sixty
children, which taxes our accommoda
tions to the utmost.
The amount received from guard
ians and relatives of the children for
partial support has averaged $35 a
month this last year. Because of
higher prices for provisions, our ex
penses are considerably larger than
last year. The demand to take in
more children is greater, many wid
ows finding it impossible to make a
living for their little ones as in the
past, therefore increasing the strain
on the home. Our monthly expendit
ures amount to $360. Our indebted
ness is now S6OO, as fewer donations
have come in, our donors finding it
uecessary to lessen their gifts be
cause of the increased cost of living.
We feel quite confident that this
appeal will not only result in the
clearing of our indebtedness but that
we shall also be able to lay in a sup
ply of coal and provisions for the win
ter.
Information may be obtained from
or donations sent to Miss Amy A..
Chadwick, superintendent of the
home; Rev. Edward T. are, Secretary
of the Board of Trustees, Atlanta Uni
versity.

was innocent and strong enough to

came to other boys from smoking the
poisonous little deceivers? I never

so we can’t tell, can we?
What are you going to be thankful
for at this time? You can’t think?

many things to be thankful for that

ting a good position. Please don’t
let any of the boys know what I am
telling you about me and my family,
for if they knew all the things I am
telling you, they might turn against
us and declare their freedom. But
to tell you the truth, we are facing a
time of great trouble from men who
are looking fdr good boys to work for
them. I wish you would look at this
that I recently dopied in my book from
a notice sent out by a great railway
company: If there was ever a time
when things were beginning to look
dark to our family, it is now.”
And Mr. C. I. Garette handed me a
tiny book that looked to me to be
about the size of a pinhead. “Just
x’ead that, won’t you?” But as I did
not have a microscope with me, I beg
ged to be excused. I could hardly see
the book, to say nothing of the let
ters. “O, well, if you cannot read,
I’ll read it for you,” laughed Mr.
Garette. So he read:
‘For the betterment of the service
and the safety of the public, it will be
the policy of the company from this
date, NOT to retain men who use in
toxicating liquors or cigarettes or are
in the habit of gambling. While it
is the privilege of each individual to
eat, drink or smoke what he pleases,
it becomes the duty of this manage
ment to have in its service only men
of sober and temperate habits, Physi
cally and Mentally able to perform the
duties to which they are assigned. ’ ”
“Now, what do you think of that,
Billie? If that kind of thing keeps
up, if the boys all find out that we
are poisonous, if they find out what
it really means to be slaves to us,
what will become of us?”
“I guess you might get papa to get
on the stump and make a few speeches
for you,” I said, “for I heard him
tell a man that Mr. T. O. Bacco is
a powerful disinfectant. He might
tell that same tale everywhere. What
do you think of that, Mr. C. I. Gar
ette?”
“Pshaw, boy, that daddy of yours
4 Rousing Appetite
Is a Keen Delight
And What Is of Greater Interest,
Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablets Enable
the Stomach to Digest What
ever Is Eaten.
We all like to see the way healthy
children devour their meals. Would
we could all do the same! Eating
ought to be a delight. It is one of
life’s chief enjoyments. People who
'•annot relish a good meal are apt to
fall into those ill-tempered moods from
which they view the world as a sorry
place to live in. So let us learn to em
ploy the best means of harmonizing
our existence and thus extract from
our daily grind all the pleasure there
is to be had. This we can do by keep
ing our stomachs in prime, active
working order.
A majority of people have come to
know the blessings which an occa
sional use of Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tab
lets confers upon the stomach. They
are unquestionably the most popular
remedy known, for the reason that
dyspepsia is the national disease, and
these wonderful little tablets have long
since acquired a national reputation
as a thoroughly reliable and efficient
cure for all forms of dyspepsia and
indigestion.
No matter how great the excess of
food taken into the stomach, one or
two of these tablets will digest every
particle of it. A package of Stuart’s
Dyspepsia Tablets should always be in
the house. Many a person has saved
himself from a serious attack of acute
indigestion by using them after heavy
meals, such as are eaten Christmas,
New Year’s, Thanksgiivng and other
holidays and festal seasons.
After attending banquets, late sup
pers, heavy fancy dinners, after-the
atre parties, etc., where one has dined
sumptuously and luxuriantly, Stuart’s
Dyspepsia Tablets should invariably
be used, as they digest the food per
fectly and completely, and prevent all
possibility of dyspepsia, which, with
out their use, is more than likely to
ensue.
Americans are exceedingly fond of
the good things of life, and there is
apt to be great excess of eating, and
the only way to overcome its bad
effects on the stomach is to employ
a powerful and efficient digestive such
as Stuart’s Dyspepsia Tablets, which
always insure a good digestion.
