Conducted by MRS. G. B. LINDSEY:
Once more the day! From near and
far
The whole wide world with weary
eyes,
Faithful and doubters, seeks the Star
That heralded His sacrifice;
And though the earth through mirth
and tears
Has played the infidel, tonight
It knows the nineteen hundred years
Are but a moment in His sight.
What though we wait our lives in
vain,
Christmas is right “next door” to
us, and we are getting the spirit good
and proper, so far as catching glimpses
of mysterious packages, and the hid
ing of others is concerned, but before
I talk to you about the Yuletide joys,
I want to tell you ftbout the splendid
feast of good things that my G. M. A.
Baraca boys enjoyed during the week
before they went home for the holi
days.
It so happens that the president of
the class, Mr. George Towns, of Hol
guin, Cuba, is also president of the
Y. M. C. A. at the Georgia Military
Academy. And he is constantly on
the lookout for forceful, helpful lec
turers, who can entertain and interest
the boys on the Thursday night meet
ings.
Having heard Mrs. Lem Gilreath, of
Cartersville, Ga., the newly-elected W.
C. T. U. state evangelist, in her superb
portrayal of the evils of alcohol, at
East Point, a few weeks ago, and be
lieving it would mean much to his
work, I told Mr. Towns that it was
possible to get her. This was enough.
Immediately arrangements were made
and although the constant downpour
of the night tried our faith a Fit, yet
we went —and oh, my! how she did
catch and hold in almost breathless
trance those usually restless boys.
It was an unusual attention, and
therefore the greater compliment that
they gave her. But how could they
help it? Have you heard her? If
not, use your first opportunity, for she
presents this long-fought evil in a
very new and attractive way, that
grips you from the very first word
and holds you in a quiver of expectan-

“Please forward six boxes of Tetterine,
C. O. D. It is the best cure for Eczema, Ring

cure of an obstinate case of facial eruption
in a young lady who had tried many other
remedies without avail.

DA YBREAK
By REGINALD WRIGHT KAUFFMAN.
Though hope deceives and seers are
dumb?
Through good and ill, through smiles
and pain,
We know that, some day, it must
come —
Some day and somehow in the East
The last gold dawn must wake, and
then
The Christ of Creeds at that high
feast
Become once more the Christ of
Men.

cy to the last. But we were not sat
isfied, for, by accident, if there are
any, in such vital things, we learned
that she had a lecture on “The Char
acter of David,” and felt we must not
let her go until we had had that, too.
The following Sunday night was the
installation of new officers for the
Baraca class, and what could be more
appropriate to those young men, tak
ing on the responsibilities of leader
ship for their class, than to be told
the beautiful story of the rise and
fall, and the final victory of this “man
after God’s own heart”?
We felt all this, and acted on it,
but we were not prepared for the
matchless picture, and I speak advis
edly when I say it, which she so im
pressively held us spellbound with.
Her installation charge to the officers
on opportunity, convicting in outline,
and eloquent in every detail, formed
a fitting “leader” up to the magnific
ent, soul-stirring, word-painting of
“The Cradle to the Grave” pathway
of the Psalmist.
Frankly, I have never heard the
story so beautifully and impressively
told by any one.
It was an hour of great growth and
uplift, and if you ever have an oppor
tunity, don’t fail to hear her.
But what of Christmas? Are you
ready for it?
Have you thought of somebody else
besides those who are able to give
you presents in return? The poor
family across the way? The' orphan
children who can’t have any Christ
mas joy unless it is brought to them
from the outside? Well, let's do that.

fust Chrismus corned wid a little chile

Jesus, went back to heaven, He said
He was goin’ to prepar a place for all

in His steps. An’ I reckon Santy
Claus will be in dat good place, too,
